v0.6.11
v0.6.11 — remove the current version from the version card
The card at the top of the panel shows the HelixSR version in use. It now also tells you where that version is installed, and lets you remove it right there.
What changed
- The path note: the folder the active version lives in. The backend always knew it, the panel never showed it.
- "Remove this version" right under that note (danger tone, two-tap confirm — the same armed state as the Remove in the Version list). Removing the version you are using switches the plugin to another one.
Everything else is unchanged.
Updating from 0.6.10
Use the panel's Update to v0.6.11 button and confirm Decky's install popup, or install helixsr-muse-plugin-v0.6.11.zip from Decky's developer settings (Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File).
Checks
52 backend tests and 23 UI checks. Not yet run on a Steam Deck.
v0.6.10
v0.6.10 — the version in use gets its own card
Which HelixSR version the panel is working with was easy to miss: its details were mixed into the step header and the inventory list.
What changed
- The version in use has its own card at the very top: the release tag (
v2.0.0— the header only showed the DLL stamp, so the release and the built DLL were indistinguishable), the network state as a chip, and a line with the DLL version, the size on disk, the bundled Scaler version and whether frame generation is built. - The step card moved below it and no longer repeats the version line.
- A divider separates the state from the Last action card, so the log output is clearly apart from the version and the step.
Everything else is unchanged.
Updating from 0.6.9
Use the panel's Update to v0.6.10 button and confirm Decky's install popup, or install helixsr-muse-plugin-v0.6.10.zip from Decky's developer settings (Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File).
Checks
52 backend tests and 23 UI checks. Not yet run on a Steam Deck.
v0.6.9
v0.6.9 — drop the sticky header again
0.6.8 made the header stick to the top of the panel, so the step and its action would stay visible while scrolling a long game list. It does not behave inside the Decky panel, so it is gone again: the header sits at the top of the panel and scrolls with the list like everything else.
Everything else from 0.6.8 is unchanged: the game list can be searched and filtered, a game the last Verify installs found damaged gets a Needs repair chip and Repair as its main action, the anti-cheat rule is stated on the card, the Extra game folder field is behind a button, and the release picker shows only the versions you do not have.
Updating from 0.6.8
Use the panel's Update to v0.6.9 button and confirm Decky's install popup, or install helixsr-muse-plugin-v0.6.9.zip from Decky's developer settings (Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File).
Checks
52 backend tests and 23 UI checks. Not yet run on a Steam Deck.
v0.6.8
v0.6.8 — find the games you need
The second UI pass: the game list can be filtered, a game that needs attention says so, and the header stays in sight.
What changed
- The game list can be searched and filtered: a search field (name or folder) and a status filter — All / Installed / Not installed / Needs repair. The header line says how many are shown.
- A broken game stands out: a game the last Verify installs found damaged gets a Needs repair chip, the reason (a Steam update replaced the drop-ins) and Repair as its main action. Until now the verify result was only a number in the list header.
- The anti-cheat rule is on the card: "Anti-cheat (EasyAntiCheat) — only the FSR drop-in is used here."
- The header sticks to the top of the panel, so the step and its action stay visible while you scroll a long game list.
- Smaller things: the Extra game folder field is behind an Add a game folder button, the header offers Re-scan games at the last step, and the release picker now shows only the releases you do not have yet (the ones you have are in the list below with their details and Use/Remove), so a release is no longer listed twice.
Updating from 0.6.7
Use the panel's Update to v0.6.8 button and confirm Decky's install popup, or install helixsr-muse-plugin-v0.6.8.zip from Decky's developer settings (Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File).
Checks
52 backend tests and 23 UI checks (5 new). The sticky header and the new focus order are worth a look on a Steam Deck. Not yet run on a Steam Deck.
v0.6.7
v0.6.7 — a panel that explains itself
The plugin did not say where you were in the flow: it started straight into the sections, so the order (download → build → scan → install) had to be known. The game cards had up to ten buttons each, and the result of your last action sat in a section at the bottom of the panel.
What changed
- A header on top: the active version and its network state, "Step 2 of 4 — Build the network" with a one-line hint, and the one button that moves the flow forward (download the picked release / build the network (+ FG) / scan the games). A running download or build shows its progress and its cancel button there.
- A "Last action" card right under the header with the result of what you just did (the Output section at the bottom is gone).
- Fewer buttons per game: the way picker and the primary action (Install / Update / Switch to …) stay visible, the rest (Remove, Repair, FG, Roll back, Settings, Log) is behind a More button — three to five focus stops per game instead of up to ten.
- Destructive actions look destructive: Remove, Remove old versions and Factory reset use the danger tone.
- Clearer wording: the way picker's first entry is "Automatic" (it was called "Recommended", the same word the state chip used), and the chip says what the game gets: "Auto: Scaler", "Auto: FSR drop-in", "✓ Scaler 2.0.0", "→ FSR drop-in".
- The scan says what it left out: "14 games · 3 installed · 12/12 verified · 27 not compatible (not listed)".
Updating from 0.6.6
Use the panel's Update to v0.6.7 button and confirm Decky's install popup, or install helixsr-muse-plugin-v0.6.7.zip from Decky's developer settings (Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File).
Checks
52 backend tests and 18 UI checks. The new header and the "More" button change the focus order, so a look on a Steam Deck is worth it. Not yet run on a Steam Deck.
v0.6.6
v0.6.6 — fixes the frame generation build
The frame generation build could not finish: the download of NVIDIA's nvngx_dlssg.dll failed with certificate verify failed: unable to get local issuer certificate.
What changed
- The release's setup now has CA certificates. The setup downloads NVIDIA's DLSS Frame Generation DLLs and the NGX core itself, with the portable Python the plugin provisions — and that Python ships without any CA certificates. The plugin's own CA bundle is now handed to the setup (
SSL_CERT_FILE), so its downloads verify. - The plugin no longer downloads NVIDIA's 226/276 MB Streamline SDK zips. It checked them against the hash of the DLL inside them, so the check could never pass; the release's setup takes the two DLLs out of the zip with range requests (~8 MB each) and verifies the hashes there. Half a gigabyte of pointless traffic saved.
Only the DLSS DLL is still fetched by the plugin itself (hash-pinned, over the plugin's own TLS, handed to the setup as --dlss).
Updating from 0.6.5
Use the panel's Update to v0.6.6 button and confirm Decky's install popup, or install helixsr-muse-plugin-v0.6.6.zip from Decky's developer settings (Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File).
Checks
51 backend tests and 16 UI checks. The CA fix was verified in a fresh Python process (0 CA certificates before, 121 with the bundle, the HTTPS request succeeds). Not yet run on a Steam Deck.
v0.6.5
v0.6.5 — panel polish
Four fixes to the game list.
What changed
- The game cards are spaced out. They sat flush against each other; the list is now a column with a gap.
- Settings and Log open inside the game card that opened them, right under its buttons — they used to appear at the bottom of the whole game list.
- The Sharpness slider stays inside the card. It pushed past the card's right edge (a Decky field in a row keeps its own minimum width); it now takes the card's full width.
- The way you pick for a game is remembered. HelixSR Scaler or FSR drop-in is now stored in the plugin's settings, so the pick is still there after the panel is closed, reopened or re-scanned.
Updating from 0.6.4
Use the panel's Update to v0.6.5 button and confirm Decky's install popup, or install helixsr-muse-plugin-v0.6.5.zip from Decky's developer settings (Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File).
Checks
49 backend tests and 16 UI checks. Not yet run on a Steam Deck.
v0.6.4
v0.6.4 — only the games HelixSR can use are listed
The scan listed every game in your library. HelixSR 2.0's own scan keeps the games whose upscaler is built into the .exe, which it cannot see — most of them have nothing HelixSR could take over.
What changed
- The scan lists only the games HelixSR can use: FSR 3.1 titles (the FSR drop-in) and games with a detected upscaler (DLSS/XeSS/FSR 2 → HelixSR Scaler). A game with no upscaler to take over is not listed any more.
- A game that already has HelixSR in it always stays listed, so it can still be updated, repaired or removed.
- Anti-cheat games get the FSR drop-in only. The Scaler is not used there (it can get the account banned in online play): an anti-cheat game without FSR 3.1 is not listed at all, and an anti-cheat game with FSR 3.1 only offers the FSR drop-in. The plugin refuses a Scaler install in an anti-cheat game.
Updating from 0.6.3
Use the panel's Update to v0.6.4 button and confirm Decky's install popup, or install helixsr-muse-plugin-v0.6.4.zip from Decky's developer settings (Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File).
Checks
48 backend tests and 16 UI checks. The filter was verified against the real HelixSR 2.0.0 bridge on a synthetic library. Not yet run on a Steam Deck.
v0.6.3
v0.6.3 — the plugin update works again
The plugin's own update button failed on a Deck with a permission error. The cause was in the plugin, not in Decky: the update renamed the plugin folder to swap the new files in, and Decky owns the parent folder (~/homebrew/plugins/) as root, so the rename was never allowed.
What changed
- The update installs through Decky's own installer (native consent popup, privileged install, hot reload) — the path used up to 0.5.x and dropped by the 0.6.0 rewrite. Confirm the popup and the plugin updates itself.
- The in-place fallback works too: the plugin folder is patched file by file instead of being renamed, so the root-owned parent folder is never touched.
- A permission failure now explains itself: instead of a raw
PermissionError: [Errno 13], the panel says the plugin folder is not writable and points at the panel's update button (which installs through Decky) or the developer settings. - The update refuses to start while a download or a build is running.
Updating from 0.6.2
Use the panel's Update to v0.6.3 button and confirm Decky's install popup. If the popup does not appear, install helixsr-muse-plugin-v0.6.3.zip through Decky's developer settings (Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File).
Checks
45 backend tests and 12 UI checks. The update path was verified against Decky's install routes and against a simulated Deck install layout (root-owned parent folder). Not yet run on a Steam Deck.
v0.6.2
HelixSR Muse Plugin 0.6.2 — switching a game's install way works
0.6.1 fixed the Steam UI restart. 0.6.2 fixes the install-way picker: choosing another way for a game had no effect.
What changed
- The install uses the way you picked. The per-game button sent the already-installed way on every update, so picking "HelixSR Scaler" or "FSR drop-in" changed nothing. It now installs the picked way — the bridge removes the other install first — and the button reads "Switch to FSR drop-in" instead of "Update".
- Your pick survives a re-scan. Installing, repairing or scanning the libraries again no longer resets every game back to "Recommended".
- The game card header wraps. The game name keeps its width and the short state chip (
✓ Scaler 2.0.0,→ FSR drop-in) drops to its own line. Before, the chip squeezed the name to zero width and the name broke one letter per line. - The way buttons say what to pick in game: HelixSR Scaler → pick DLSS in the game's graphics menu, FSR drop-in → pick AMD FSR.
Updating
Use the plugin's own update button, or install helixsr-muse-plugin-v0.6.2.zip through Decky's developer settings (Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File).
Checks
40 backend tests and 12 UI checks. Not yet run on a Steam Deck.
