First release. A used Kindle Paperwhite 3 on the wall showing time, weather, a five-day forecast, the sun's day, and the moon, fed by a small Python service on a Raspberry Pi. Installed from GitHub; not published to any package index.

What is in it

The service (paperwhite serve, a user-level systemd unit): fetches Open-Meteo every 15 minutes, keeps the last good snapshot, renders a 1072x1448 PNG on request in landscape or portrait, quantized to the panel's 16 grays; /health reports its state. One-command setup on the Pi with deploy/install.sh; re-running it is the update.

The client (kindle/paperwhite.sh, POSIX shell on the jailbroken device): finds the server by name or by scanning the subnet, paints the frame with eips, switches orientation on a tap, suspends between refreshes with an RTC wake, starts at boot, and logs the battery level on every refresh. A KUAL menu starts, stops, and toggles it.

Seven skins on one data model, from quiet to detailed: minimal (the wall default), big-clock, forecast, graphic (hero icon, band chart of the week's highs and lows), timeline (the day hour by hour: temperature curve, rain bars, wind, night shading), weather-station (six metric cells including UV index and moon phase), and the serif newspaper. Each has a portrait and a landscape layout. Vector icons with night variants, the sun arc from civil dawn to dusk, temperature bars on a shared scale; Inter, Oswald, Playfair Display, and DejaVu Serif bundled under their licenses.

Providers: open-meteo (no API key; current conditions, daily and hourly forecast, UV index) and a deterministic mock for development. Sun times and moon phase are computed locally with astral.

Docs: the client-server decision record, the jailbreak runbook that was followed on a Paperwhite 3 (firmware 5.16.2.1.1), what was verified on the device including measured power figures, and the Pi deployment.
