@etonedemid etonedemid released this 29 Oct 14:56
  • The title update is now needed: pressing Play without it shows a short clip and says to add it (Set Up Game, step 4).
  • Step 4 and the game status say when it is missing.

Run NutStaller.exe on Windows, or NutStaller-x86_64.AppImage on Linux (chmod +x).

Run NutStaller.exe on Windows, or NutStaller-x86_64.AppImage on Linux (chmod +x).

Title update support.

  • Set Up Game has a step 4, Add title update: pick the title update (the TU_... file, or a zip with it). NutStaller unpacks it into game/update, puts default.xexp next to default.xex, and points reNut's update_data_root at game/update.
  • Needs reNut beta9 or newer; older builds crash with the update installed.

Run NutStaller.exe on Windows, or NutStaller-x86_64.AppImage on Linux (chmod +x).

Save management upgrades.

  • Import Xbox 360 saves: pick a 360 save package (the CON file a 360 keeps each save in), a folder of them, or a zip. NutStaller unpacks them into the game's save, with their names.
  • Saves without a Headers folder import too; vehicles get their names back from the blueprint.
  • Import vehicles: pick another save (a 360 save, a backup, a folder or a zip), tick the vehicles you want, and they are added to your save next to your own.
  • Backups can be renamed.

Run NutStaller.exe on Windows, or NutStaller-x86_64.AppImage on Linux (chmod +x).

Workshop part mods, keyboard and mouse binds, and save management.

  • Workshop Parts tab: custom reNut part mods (.nbpatch) shared by the community. Install puts them in reNut's mods folder; Installed lists them with Remove.
  • Dependencies: vehicles that use custom parts show what they need (NEEDS: ...), and downloading a vehicle installs its parts first.
  • Share: share a vehicle or a part mod. Vehicles list the custom parts they use. Part mods are checked automatically and published once a maintainer approves them.
  • Keybinds: keyboard and mouse controls for reNut, with mouse camera, invert Y, mouse speed, and a bind for every pad button (click a field, then press a key or click a mouse button).
  • Saves: a new page that shows your save (slots, vehicles, replays, size) and backs it up to a zip. Backups can be renamed, restored or deleted, and you can import a save from a zip or a folder. Restoring or importing always backs up your current save first, and is refused while reNut is running.

Run NutStaller.exe on Windows, or NutStaller-x86_64.AppImage on Linux (chmod +x).

Adds the Workshop: community vehicle blueprints for Nuts & Bolts.

  • Browse: a grid of shared vehicles with preview, name, description and author. Download puts a vehicle straight into your save; it shows up in the game's garage.
  • Installed: everything you got from the workshop, with Remove. Your own builds are never touched.
  • Share: pick one of your vehicles, give it a name, description and screenshot, then Copy and open GitHub and paste into the form. Submissions are checked (and moderated) before they are published, at most 3 per 10 minutes.

NutStaller v1.2.0

@etonedemid etonedemid released this 16 Oct 18:16

Fixes "Get latest reNut" refusing the new beta, and adds Linux: run NutStaller-x86_64.AppImage (chmod +x), or NutStaller.exe on Windows.

The launcher runs on glibc 2.17+, but the reNut AppImage itself needs glibc 2.38+ (Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 39 or newer).

The UI moved to Avalonia so one codebase builds both; it looks the same.

Fixes for ISO extraction, based on a report from a user on a slow disk.

Fixed

  • Extraction no longer fails forever after an interrupted run. extract-xiso has no overwrite option and aborts with read error: File exists the moment it meets a file from a previous attempt, so a half-finished extraction made every retry fail until the folder was cleared by hand. NutStaller now clears the target folder for you, after asking, and never touches the source ISO even when it is sitting in that same folder.
  • Better message for an unreadable ISO. extract-xiso prints that same File exists error for any image it cannot parse, which points at entirely the wrong problem. Failures now check for the Xbox disc signature and tell you when the file looks incomplete, for example if it is still being copied.
  • Errors are readable. Extraction failures go to a dialog you can copy from, and to nutstaller.log next to the exe. The status strip used to ellipsize long folder paths out of the message.
  • Lighter on slow disks. The progress scan runs off the UI thread and backs off in proportion to how long it takes, so the app no longer freezes mid-extract or spends the disk's seeks answering the progress bar instead of extracting.

Install

Download NutStaller.exe below and run it. Nothing else to install, no .NET runtime needed.
