Gale 0.5.0
New
- Torrent downloads. Click a magnet or .torrent link in Chrome or Edge, paste a magnet link (Ctrl+V or Add URL), or
pick a .torrent file with Add URL -> ".torrent file...". Multi-file torrents get their own folder. Pause and resume
work like any other download, also after a restart. The speed limit applies. Gale stops sharing a torrent when it
finishes or is paused. - Downloads that were running when Gale closed or the PC restarted carry on when Gale starts.
- A download that fails because the connection dropped is retried by itself (after 15 s, 30 s, 1, 2 and 4 min).
Both can be turned off in Settings -> General. - The quality menu on videos opens without the wait: on video sites Gale reads the qualities as soon as the video
page opens, elsewhere as soon as you point at a streamed video.
Fixed
- Saved videos were named "Title [video-id].mp4". They are now named after the title only.
- Videos and audio from the browser were sorted by the file extension of the page instead of into Video and Music.
- The tray Speed limit menu did not show a limit changed in Settings.
- About page and extension links pointed to the old repository address.
Notes
- The first torrent may make Windows Firewall ask whether Gale may accept connections. Allowing it gets more peers;
torrents also work if you don't. - Only download and share torrents you have the right to. Peers can see your IP address.
Files
- Gale_Setup_0.5.0.exe setup (installs WebView2 if missing)
- Gale_0.5.0_x64.msi MSI package for silent or managed installs
- Gale-Chrome-Extension-0.5.0.zip browser extension (also installed by the setup)
- SHA-256 checksums in the .sha256 files
