Repository navigation
This update reorganizes the guides, consolidates device reports, and tightens maintainer checks. Device results retain their recorded dates and testing boundaries.
Added
- A device compatibility and evidence table combines dated maintainer checks, contributor evidence, and community reports, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra Path B report in issue #12. Reported workarounds remain distinct from fixed defects.
- A passive Android sensor probe and saved results from four lab phones. The results separate sensor availability from observed events and record the ADB-shell test boundary.
- A release checklist and an automated metadata consistency check for the README badge, the device compatibility page, and the changelog.
Changed
- Repository version:
2.9.4to2.9.5; Anthropic's Claude Code version and the2.1.112fallback are separate. - Optional guides now live together under
docs/add-ons/, reached through Build with Android. TheCLAUDE.mdstarter isproject-instructions.md; the old constitution, fingerprint, and SSRF locations are removed. The wireless ADB guide is now here. Historical release entries retain their original wording and link destinations. - The README and contribution guidance use simpler, evidence-first language and describe Android limitations without comparing the project to unrelated repositories.
- The install, wireless ADB, AVF, sensor, security, troubleshooting, skills, and starter-template guides have clearer navigation and tighter scope. The install guidance now covers Android battery and background restrictions without implying that one menu path fits every device.
- Bug reports now request redacted Termux and install-path diagnostics appropriate to the reported setup.
tests/verify-claims.shis described as a selected-check harness rather than proof of every documentation claim.- The termux-safe skill covers the
#!/usr/bin/envlimitation under the Path A launcher and recommends the shell builtincommand -vwhile identifyingwhichas an available package. The skills guide retains the caveat about its existing low-port rule. - The
CLAUDE.mdstarter drops the Termux rules the termux-safe skill already covers, and its optional subagent section. scripts/check-termux-env.shlabels its checks for what they measure and no longer cites a fixed process limit. Every check and exit code is unchanged.
Removed
- The general-purpose
minimum-viableandscope-framingskills, which were not specific to Android. scripts/config-validator.sh, a general.claude/folder checker with nothing Android-specific.
Fixed
- The Moto G7 Power Path B result retains the dated 2026-05-16 maintainer record; missing separate transcripts do not negate that record.
- The link checker explicitly excludes the obsolete local ADB target retained in the immutable 2.0.0 changelog entry; all other changelog links remain in scope.
- Verification scripts now return distinct non-zero statuses for failed checks and harness errors, and the mutation suite protects those exit-code semantics.
- Security examples no longer imply that blocking a few commands removes all network access.
install-pinned.shand the troubleshooting guide now give a working way to runfix-ripgrep.shon a pinned install. The earlier advice pointed to a folder that users who downloaded the installer alone did not have, and the manual steps could not write to the locked install folder.- Earlier wording about verifying all documentation claims is clarified: the harness checks selected claims, and its results do not establish every documented behavior.
