Since this syntax did not work before, it should not break any existing user code to make this change of definition in the FORM code to match the manual.

These are a few fixes extracted from a branch where I was trying to systematically increase test coverage by looking at the low-% files reported by lcov. I'll get back to that at some point but for now, the fixes I made along the way could be merged.
