Fullbleed 2.5.38: correct generated quotation marks
CSS-generated quotation marks now follow document order across inline, block, inline-block and display: contents elements. Nested quotations retain the correct closing marks; for example, [outer{inner}end]. Layout probes no longer consume quotation depth, and silent quotation tokens, hidden subtrees and engine reuse have retained regression coverage.
Install Python with python -m pip install fullbleed==2.5.38 or pin Rust with fullbleed = "=2.5.38".
Validation includes 1,403 native tests, 11 documentation tests, 759 Python checks and independent text/page-count inspection of 164 saved quotation PDFs across ordinary, compiled, repeated and reflowing output. The previous stable wheel fails 25 of the 42 quotation checks. All 16 public Python distributions match the qualified release artifacts. Fresh public Python and Rust consumers reproduce 52 and 50 checked PDFs respectively.
The unchanged 1,662-case CSS corpus retains 1,620 PASS, 24 FAIL and 18 REFERENCE-DISPUTED. Every verdict and raster hash matches the stable predecessor; the separate all-pass gate still fails. Full candidate evidence and baseline reports are attached.
This release adds no runtime dependency. The component preview remains alpha, and dedicated PDF/VT validation remains unavailable. Local elapsed-time medians changed by approximately +3.9% for ordinary text, +8.6% for counters and -10.2% for the quoted-text workload; the retained bounded measurements do not establish general performance or browser parity.
- Python release checks and Rust release checks.
- Verification record, tests, corpus and PDF evidence, and SHA-256 checksums.
Evidence revision 2 distinguishes the original qualified local 2.5.37 control from a separate check of the public package. Both fail the same 25 of 42 quotation cases. Package binaries and previous evidence assets are unchanged.
