MTG farm volunteer client v33
Superseded by client-v34 (2026-10-19): the Winnower, a new work mode that deepens kept walk steps. Let the client update itself to v34, or download client-v34. This v33 asset stays downloadable, and its digest below holds for it.
One-zip Windows volunteer client for the MTG sim farm. Unzip, double-click run-client.bat, enter the farm URL and your runner credential on the first-run page, click Add, pick your work, and go.
New in v33: Backfill dead cards.
- A third Backfill option, Backfill dead cards, after Backfill chosen decks. It plays the two decks whose dead or nearly dead cards have the least evidence against each other, a hundred fresh seeds at a time, so those cards turn up in many more opening hands. The games join the ordinary pool, and plain backfill fills in whenever no band is ready, so a worker in this mode has work whenever backfill does. Nothing to pick; a worker row's mode reads "backfill dead cards".
- Any runner key will do. It is backfill: unlike Play my walk steps and the Necromancer, it needs no key made on your account page.
- Offered only by a farm that deals dead-card bands (its hello lists
bands); against an older farm the option is greyed out with the reason, and a worker started in it there stops on its own, saying so, while your other workers keep playing. - Headless:
farmrunner.py --mode bands, or abandsentry of--worker-modes. - A safer import path. An unzipped bundle no longer puts the folder two levels above its own files at the front of Python's import path, so a stray
json.py,http/ormtglib/sitting above the bundle (for one unzipped into Downloads, your user folder) can no longer shadow the client's own modules or the standard library, and a bundle unzipped at a drive root now starts instead of failing at import.
Who should update: anyone on v32 or earlier who wants Backfill dead cards. Let the client update itself (bundles from v12 on offer it in their banner) or download this zip. Nothing else changes from v32: the other modes, the rest of the page and the engine are as they were; the import-path fix changes no behaviour on a machine where nothing shadowed the client.
From v32: the Necromancer, and the page in the site's own type. From v31: the work modes in two groups, and the page in the site's look. From v30: engine 2.0.15+499e03087c5. From v29: Play my walk steps. From v28: a tuned engine JVM. From v27: one engine process per machine, and the harness inside the engine jar. From v26: owner-cast card rows. From v25: a worker row says how it ended. From v20: a stopped worker starts from its own row. From v16: workers persist across restarts. From v12: the client updates itself.
Ships Windows embeddable Python 3.12.10; the Forge engine (~200 MB) is downloaded on demand. Needs a farm whose /hello advertises the active_engine 2.0.15+499e03087c5 (accepted 2026-10-16); Play my walk steps also needs step_widening in its features (farm schema v12), the Necromancer needs necromancer (farm schema v14, live 2026-10-17), and Backfill dead cards needs bands (no schema change). No engine change from v30.
