v1.1.1
Added
-
Help & feedback in everyone's language. If your people use Business
Central in different languages, the priorities, the email subjects and the
message for urgent problems can now be written once per language. On the
settings page the fields show the text for the language chosen at the top;
pick another one to write the next. People get the text in the language
Business Central is in, and the report they send says the same. The team
file and Intune can carry the texts per language too. -
Version and documentation link in the side panel. The start view shows
the installed BC Buddy version and a link to the documentation, in its
lower-right corner. -
Paste a screenshot into a report. Take a screenshot with Print Screen or
Win+Shift+S, click in the note box of Report a problem and paste: the
picture becomes the next step, with your note as its caption. This lets you
capture things that vanish when you move the mouse, such as an error
message that only shows while you hover its icon. -
Report a problem from an error message. Business Central's error
messages now have a Report a problem link next to Share details.
One click opens the report with a screenshot of the error as a step, the
message as its note, and the error details that Copy error details would
give (session IDs, time and the AL call stack), so you no longer copy and
paste them yourself. A report you were already writing keeps its steps and
gets the error as its next one. It needs Help & feedback to be on, and it
replaces what is on your clipboard.
Fixed
- Screenshot editor: picking a colour leaves Blur. Choosing a colour while
the blur tool is active now switches back to the arrow, so the cross no
longer stays on blur. - Report a problem: Done goes back to Email / Download after a change.
Once a report went out, changing it (a step added, removed or edited, the
note, the type or the priority) brings the Email or Download button back, so
you do not close a changed report without sending it again. - BC Buddy icon on on-premises servers. The icon in the top bar, before the
gear, now also shows on Business Central on-premises. It was only there on
the Microsoft 365 top bar of online environments.
Chrome Web Store: none.
A draft upload leaves the published version live; submit it from the
dashboard when you are ready. Publishing still enters review
— this release does not put anything in front of users by itself.
v1.1.0
Added
{tenant}can go in the ribbon, banner and tab title texts, to show
which customer you are working for, such ascontoso.com.- Your own rules can use your team's styles. Every rule can now pick a
style from the shared file, and your last own style can go while the team
file has some. - Bar at the top. A banner can now sit above Business Central's own top
bar. It moves the page down, so it covers nothing. - Sample rules from the start. A new install comes with the four sample
rules, so you can start from them. Nothing is coloured until you switch on
Use environment colours under Environments. When your team's shared
file brings rules, they take over from the samples you did not change. - The company, also when the address has none. Right after you sign in,
Business Central online often leaves the company out of the address. BC
Buddy now reads it from the page, for{company}and for rules on
Company. - Help & feedback. Report a problem to your helpdesk, or send feedback or
a suggestion, without leaving Business Central. Click the BC Buddy icon in
the top bar, or in the browser's toolbar, and pick Report a problem or
Feedback or a suggestion: a panel opens next to the page. Write what you
did step by step, with a screenshot of each step (the whole screen or just
the part that matters), and make words bold, italic or underlined with
Ctrl+B, Ctrl+I or Ctrl+U. Drag a screenshot up or down to change the order
of the steps. Point things out on a screenshot with an arrow, a
pen or a box, blur what others must not see, or start over with Clear
all. Give the report a priority, then click Email: a new email opens
in your email app with the screenshots inside, ready to send. The first
time, the browser asks whether BC Buddy may open the file it saves for
that. Under the arrow next to it, Email (draft) opens your email app
and puts the report on the clipboard for you to paste; Download saves
it as a web page; Copy puts it on the clipboard. The report says which
environment and company you were in, with every step's page title linking
to the page, and ends with the tenant and when it was made. It stays while
you move around Business Central or close the panel; Done or the bin
throws it away. Off until you switch on Use Help &
feedback under Help & feedback. - Set up Help & feedback for your team. Under Help & feedback you set
the helpdesk's email address, the priorities people can pick and the one a
report starts with, and the email subjects, with{prio},{company},
{environment}and{title}filled in. You can
also add a short message, with a Teams link or phone number if you like,
that people see when they pick the most urgent priority. Put them
in your team's shared file and everyone gets them; they then show Set by
your organisation. and cannot be changed, also not by an import. IT can
set them, and each part's switch, by policy too. - Switch parts on for your team. Your team's shared file can now switch
the Web client improvements and environment colours on or off for
everyone, as a starting point each person can still change.
Changed
- One switch per part. Web client, Environments and Help &
feedback each have their own switch at the top of their page, instead of
one switch for all of BC Buddy. A rule no longer has a switch of its own: a
rule that is there colours. Keyboard shortcuts come with the Web client.
When you update, everything you used keeps working. If you were using
environment colours, the rules you had switched off are removed. - Keyboard shortcuts in a side panel. The BC Buddy icon (two people), just
before Business Central's settings gear in the top bar, now opens the
browser's side panel, next to Business Central instead of on top of it.
Shortcuts for this page there shows the shortcuts. The panel follows
you from page to page, has a gear for the BC Buddy settings and a moon
button for dark mode, switches language as soon as you pick another one,
and the shortcuts view closes by itself when you leave Business Central. The
BC Buddy entry in Business Central's settings pane is gone: the
panel's gear takes you to the settings.
Fixed
- No red on hover in the top bar. Pointing at the Environment button
in a coloured top bar showed Business Central's own red. It now keeps the
rule's colour. - Readable banner text. On a see-through banner or corner ribbon, the text
is now black or white for the colour you actually see. Before, a dark colour
at half opacity got white text on what looked like light pink. - Striped rows now cover the whole row in lists shown inside a page, such
as the one on Performance Profiler. Before, only the narrow column with
the ⋮ button got the grey. - No more overlap in the top bar. In a narrower window the BC Buddy icon
pushed Business Central's buttons over your name. Where the bar has no room
for it, the icon now steps aside until the window is wide enough again.
Chrome Web Store: none.

v1.0.17
Added
- Hide the FactBox pane: a page you open for the first time shows without
the pane of extra details on the right, so the page gets the room. Open it on
a page and it stays open there. Off until you switch it on under Web
client. - Dark mode for the BC Buddy settings: the moon button at the top right
switches the page to dark, the sun back to light. Until you click it, the
page follows Windows.
Fixed
- In a wider dropdown, the column headers now line up with the rows
again, and a list that fits no longer gets a horizontal scrollbar. This
happened mostly with the browser zoomed out. - The copy icon no longer covers the end of a value in a narrow column,
such as the No. in the first column of a list: it sits just after the
text.
Chrome Web Store: none.

v1.0.16
Added
- Resize panes: drag the left edge of Help, Copilot, Page
Inspection or the Personalize field list to make it wider or narrower.
BC Buddy remembers the width; double-click the edge to go back to Business
Central's own width.
Changed
- Copy values now also works in the Page Inspection pane
(Ctrl+Alt+F1): copy the page, the table, or the value of any table field.
Chrome Web Store: none.

v1.0.15
Added
- Choose the language of BC Buddy with the globe at the top right of its
settings: English, Nederlands or Français, whatever language your browser
is in. Until you choose, it follows your browser. - Reset to defaults under Web client puts every switch and slider back
to how BC Buddy starts out, or to your team's choices when you use a shared
file. Undo takes it back. - Load samples under Environments adds four ready-made rules of your
own: Master Data in yellow, Production in green, UAT in red and Development
in blue, with the styles Full and Subtle. Rules you already have stay
as they are. Not shown when your IT
department installed BC Buddy or set a shared file. - Several values in one condition: contains and does not contain
take a list separated by commas, so one rule can cover several
environments, for example Environment containsDEV, UAT, QA.
Changed
- Environments now fills in Test URL from your open Business Central
tab as soon as you open it, so the green ticks show right away which rules
fit that tab.
Fixed
- A rule on Company now fits a company with a
+in its name, such as
R+D Solutions. BC Buddy used to read the+as a space. - An address without an environment, such as
businesscentral.dynamics.com/contoso.com, opens your default environment,
and BC Buddy now reads it as Production. Rules on Production used to miss
it.
Chrome Web Store: none.

v1.0.14
Added
- Striped rows: every other row in a list gets a light grey, so you stay
on the right line in a wide list. Off by default; switch it on under
Web client in the options. - Keyboard shortcuts: a keyboard icon in the top bar of Business Central
shows the shortcuts that work where you are: the page's own actions, such
as Post (F9), what works in the lines, the list, the card or the date field
you are in, and a few that work anywhere, with a link to Microsoft's full
list. The panel stays open while you work, changes along when you open
another page, and you can drag it by its title.
Off by default; switch it on under Web client in the options. - Set up by your IT department: IT can install BC Buddy on every computer
and fill in your team's shared file for you, for example with Intune. The
address then says Set by your organisation and cannot be changed.
Instructions for IT are at the bottom of Sharing with your team.
Changed
- A shared file that could not be loaded is tried again after 1, 2, 4 and 8
hours, instead of only the next day.
Fixed
- A RegEx condition can no longer freeze your browser. A pattern too
complex to check safely does not match, and the condition says why.
Chrome Web Store: none.

v1.0.13
Maintenance release - nothing that changes what you see.
Chrome Web Store: none.

— this release does not put anything in front of users by itself.
v1.0.12
Added
- Copy values: rest the mouse on a value in a list or a FactBox, or on a
field that is a link on a card (Balance (LCY)), and a small copy icon
appears. Click it to copy the value exactly as Business Central shows it —
also a No. or an amount that is a link, which you could not select before. Works on values you cannot edit. On by default; it is the
first switch under Web client in the options. - Week numbers in the date picker: the calendar that opens from a date
field shows the week number in front of each week. They are Business
Central's own week numbers, which it keeps hidden until you press
Shift+Home in the calendar; BC Buddy turns them on for you. Press Shift+Home
to turn them off again, and Business Central remembers it. On by default;
switch it off under Web client in the options. - Hide the notifications icon: the bell at the top right of Business
Central, which opens Notifications, is hidden. On by default; switch it off
under Web client in the options to get the bell back. - Share your Web client settings: Export now also saves the switches
and sliders under Web client, so a team can hand out a set of defaults.
Importing such a file applies them. Through a shared configuration they are
defaults: each is applied on the first sync, and after that only when the
team changes it in the file, so a colleague who switches something off
keeps it off. - BC Buddy in the gear menu: in Business Central online, the gear icon's
Settings pane now has a BC Buddy section with a Settings link that
opens the options. It is there whenever BC Buddy is installed, also while it
is switched off. - French support
- Pin the action bar: a page opens with the row of actions under its tabs
pinned, instead of the way Business Central picks. Unpin it on a page and
that page stays unpinned. On by default; switch it off under Web client
in the options.
Fixed
-
Maximize pages no longer overrules you. A page you switched back to
narrow or to tiles now stays that way the next time you open it, instead of
being widened again. -
Layouts in a shared configuration now reach your colleagues. Until now a
shared rule always looked like the plain default layout, whatever layout it
had in the file. -
The text in a banner or corner ribbon could show up as a tiny dash while
Size was on automatic. It now fits itself to the banner again.
Chrome Web Store: none.

v1.0.11
Added
- Turn off animations: pages, dialogs, FastTabs and panes in Business
Central appear at once instead of sliding or fading in. Progress indicators
keep moving. On by default; switch it off under Web client in the options.
Chrome Web Store: none.
A draft upload leaves the published version live; submit it from the

v1.0.10
Added
- Highlight the current line — in editable lists, such as the lines of a
sales order or a journal, the line you are on gets a light tint across its
full width. Business Central itself only shows a small arrow at the far
left. Read-only lists keep their own highlight. On by default; switch it off
under Web client.
Changed
- The options take less reading. Web client and Import / export are
short lists: each setting has its name with its switch or button on the
right. Hover a setting to see what it does; a link under Web client leads to
the documentation. - Under Environments, your rules now come first and layouts second.
- A layout lists its parts — ribbon, frame, banner, tab title and favicon — as
rows: its name, its settings and a switch on the right. Hover the name to see
what it does; a part that is off shows only its name and switch. The tokens
you can use in the texts ({name},{environment},{company},{title})
are on one line at the bottom, instead of behind a question mark beside
every text field. The banner's Opacity is a slider of five steps, like
the frame's thickness. - A rule's on/off switch no longer has the word On beside it, and the
popup's Extension active is now the same switch as in the options. - Shared configuration fits on one line: the URL with Synchronise
beside it.
Chrome Web Store: draft.
