Tabs 0.1.7
Tabs 0.1.7
Dictation can start on a computer that has no dictation settings yet (first start). It failed there with a Jackson version mismatch ("Dictation could not start ... _anyGetterWriter"): writing the default settings file needs an XML writer that did not match the Jackson version Tabs pins. A computer that already had the settings file was not affected. On a Mac dictation also needs speech keys and a microphone permission text that the launcher cannot write yet.
Windows and macOS (Apple silicon and Intel), needs Java 25. Windows: download fxterm-tabs.exe and run it; existing installs: fxterm-tabs.exe -Xjr:update. Mac, in Terminal: curl -fLo /tmp/fxterm-tabs https://github.com/fxterm/tabs/releases/latest/download/fxterm-tabs-macos-$(uname -m) && chmod +x /tmp/fxterm-tabs && /tmp/fxterm-tabs -Xjr:install ; later updates: fxterm-tabs -Xjr:update

Read aloud now works on a Mac with the Deepgram voices (it needs a Deepgram key in ~/speechfx/keys). The footer's update click updates in place only from a release exe; any other copy opens the release page.

Tabs 0.1.5
Tabs 0.1.5
Fixes found by testing 0.1.4 on a Mac: a hibernated tab now wakes as what it ran (claude --resume with its flags in its folder, or its shell in its last folder) instead of a bare shell; on a Mac, hibernating a tab ends everything it started; Esc is sent from its key press; a Mac's claude resume no longer waits for an interactive shell to start. Read aloud says plainly that a Mac has no voice yet (needs a Deepgram key).

Tabs 0.1.4
Tabs 0.1.4
macOS (Apple silicon and Intel) is supported for the first time: Command keys, your login shell, a VS Code Dark Modern terminal theme (the default on a Mac), install as Tabs.app. Updating from inside the window (click the footer's update line) now works on Windows and on a Mac. A second Tabs no longer takes over a running one's control socket.

Tabs 0.1.3
Tabs 0.1.3
- The tab bar no longer shakes while Claude Code animates its title. Title changes redraw only the one label, and the animated symbol is left out of the row, the window title and the tooltip. In its place a small ring with a moving comet shows that a tab is working, and a quiet dot when it stops.
- Hovering a link or a path shows a small popup with Copy link / Copy path.
- A group's label takes the colour of the tabs under it, and its menu has "Move group to window".
- Tab numbers run on across windows, and Alt+number / Ctrl+number follow them.
- Hibernating a tab shows "Zz" on its row at once.
- "Quote in notepadfx" puts the selection in as it is, without a leading "> ". "Quote & reply" in the compose box still quotes.
- A fix for restarts: Tabs now has one exe that runs the newest build, and a plain build no longer leaves a second exe behind that runs the previous release.
Windows only, needs Java 25. Existing release installs: fxterm-tabs.exe -Xjr:update
Tabs 0.1.2

- Read aloud: select text in the terminal and choose Read aloud; each word is lit as it is said, with Pause, Stop, speed and Voice in the footer. (Read aloud is no longer in the compose box.)
- The compose box takes the terminal's colours and has an editor's tools (bold, italic, headings, lists); its buttons are smaller.
- Quieter footer buttons.
- A sleeping tab is dulled with a grey moon that turns into a yellow sun on hover; one click wakes it.
- Folding a group lifts the + and label buttons with the list.
- Closing a tab that has Claude or another program running asks: Close, Hibernate or Cancel. A bare shell closes at once.
- The footer checks for a newer release at start and every 24 hours, with a button to check now.
Windows only, needs Java 25. Existing release installs: fxterm-tabs.exe -Xjr:update

- The active tab and its terminal read as one: the tab fills with a frame colour (its own colour, or blue) that also borders the terminal.
- Separators: labelled rows that group tabs. Add one with the button beside +, or 'Insert separator above' in a tab's menu; drag to place; rename or delete from its own menu. Tab numbers and Ctrl+Tab skip them.
Windows only, needs Java 25. Existing installs: fxterm-tabs.exe -Xjr:update
Tabs 0.1.0
The first release of Tabs (FxTerminalTabs): a Windows terminal with vertical tabs, made for long sessions with AI coding agents such as Claude Code.
- Vertical tabs: numbered, colourable, renamable, three lines each (title, folder, path); drag to reorder, drag out to open in a new window, right-click for copy folder, copy command, duplicate, hibernate, move to window, close above / below / others.
- Sleeping tabs: on restart every tab comes back asleep showing its text and wakes only when asked; a Claude Code tab wakes as the same conversation with the same flags. Idle hidden Claude tabs sleep when memory runs short; one click on a tab's RAM badge puts it to sleep.
- History: every closed, sleeping or still-open tab is kept with its text; search it all, filter by date, preview, copy, resume (Ctrl+Shift+H).
- Compose box under the terminal (Ctrl+Shift+E), find (Ctrl+F), right-click copy/paste.
- RAM at a glance: a coloured badge per tab and the total in the footer.
- Colour themes read from an existing Tabby configuration; Tabby-compatible
open/runcommand line.
Windows only. Needs Java 25. Download fxterm-tabs.exe and run it: on first run it fetches fxterm-tabs.jar from this release and checks its SHA-256. fxterm-tabs.exe -Xjr:update moves to later releases.
