v4.0.3 — Grouping fix, member temperatures, Open-Meteo frost protection
v4.0.3
Group member visibility
TRVs added to a group are hidden from the standalone TRV list immediately. They are managed through the group climate entity. Remove from the group to restore the individual entity. The group is the single point of control.
Live temperature — average of all group members
The group climate entity shows the average current temperature across all member TRVs. Individual member temperatures are exposed as member_detail attribute (list of {name, entity_id, temperature}) and member_temperatures (dict of {entity_id: temperature}). The group card displays all member temperatures.
Open-Meteo frost protection
A new step (Step 4 of 4) when creating a room group. If Open-Meteo is installed, you can select a weather entity and set a frost threshold (default 2°C). When the outdoor temperature drops to or below the threshold, the group automatically activates heating to protect the room. If Open-Meteo is not installed the option is shown as informational only.
The outdoor_temperature and frost_protection_active attributes are exposed on the group climate entity for use in automations.
v4.0.2 — Fix receiver browser and group member picker
v4.0.2
Fix: Add receiver was showing TRVs in the browser
The receiver browser now excludes topics already registered as either a TRV or receiver, so you won't see already-added devices. Since receivers and TRVs look identical in the Z2M entity registry, all unregistered mqtt climate entities are shown — pick whichever is your receiver and select the correct model (SLR1/SLR2) in the next step.
Fix: Group member picker was not showing registered TRVs
The member picker now shows a named list of TRVs you have added to this integration (by their device name, e.g. 'Living Room TRV'), not a generic entity selector. Only TRVs not already in another group are shown. TRVs that haven't fully loaded yet log a warning and are skipped until HA has processed them.
Behaviour: TRV climate entities hidden when grouped
When a TRV is added to a group its individual climate.* entity is hidden. All group members are controlled as a single device through the group climate entity. Remove a TRV from the group and its individual entity is immediately restored.
v4.0.1 — Browse Z2M devices when adding TRV or receiver
v4.0.1
Add TRV / Add Receiver now shows a browser of discovered Z2M devices.
When you click Add a TRV or Add a receiver, the flow shows a dropdown of all MQTT climate entities already registered in HA by Zigbee2MQTT. Pick one from the list — the name is pre-filled from Z2M. If a device isn't in the list yet (not yet reported by Z2M) you can still type the topic manually in the text field below.
Both flows are now two steps: select device → confirm/edit name.
v4.0.0 — Complete rewrite
v4.0.0 — Complete rewrite
See README.md for setup instructions and CHANGELOG.md for full release notes.
What's new
Per-device entries — add each TRV and receiver individually (Settings → Add Integration → Hive TRV Local → Add a TRV).
Entity suppression — TRV climate entities are hidden when added to a group and immediately restored when removed.
Receiver support — full SLR1, SLR2 (heating + hot water), OTR1 support.
Reliable member picker — shows only your registered TRVs, no entity detection guesswork.
Setup
- Add Integration → Add a TRV (repeat for each TRV)
- Add Integration → Add a receiver (if applicable)
- Add Integration → Set up room group manager (once)
- Room Groups → Configure → Create a new room group
Upgrade from v2/v3
Delete all existing Hive TRV Local entries first, update via HACS, restart, then re-add devices.
v3.1.3 — Multi-select TRV picker
v3.1.3
Fix: only one TRV could be added to a group
The member selection step now shows a proper multi-select entity picker listing all MQTT climate entities in HA. Tick as many TRVs as you want. An additional text field is available for any TRVs not yet showing in HA (enter their full Z2M topic, one per line).
v3.1.2 — Fix Configure button missing
v3.1.2
Fix: Configure button not appearing after install
CONFIG_VERSION was set to 3 (inherited from v2 numbering), which caused HA to attempt a migration on any existing hive_trv_local config entry and fail silently, leaving the integration in a broken state with no Configure option.
Reset to 1 — this is a clean-slate integration with no migration history.
If you had v2 installed: remove the old integration entry first (Settings → Devices & Services → Hive TRV Local → Delete), then re-add it.
v3.1.1 — Clean install fix
Removes stale files from previous v3 pre-release work that prevented the integration loading. Directory now contains only the 17 files needed for v3.1.0 clean-slate build.
v3.1.0 — Clean slate, MQTT topic-based member selection
v3.1.0
Complete rewrite of member selection — replaces all previous entity detection attempts.
How to add TRVs
Configure → Manage room groups → Create a new room group → enter room name → enter the Z2M MQTT topic for each TRV, one per line:
zigbee2mqtt/Living Room TRV
zigbee2mqtt/Living Room TRV 2
Detected topics from the entity registry are shown as hints. Topics are resolved to HA entity IDs at save time and stored for future editing.
What's the same
- Room groups, boiler demand, schedules, boost
- Both Lovelace cards (hive-trv-card, hive-trv-group-card)
- All services
- Smart reload, full logging

Documentation and installer script
DECISION_GUIDE.md — Full architecture guide covering how v2 and v3 work, when to use each version, data flow diagrams, storage schema, event bus, services, and card selection guide.
install-hive-cards.py — Run on your HA server to download and apply the cards:
python3 /config/install-hive-cards.pyor fetch directly:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gashwell/Hive-TRV-Local-v3/main/install-hive-cards.py | python3The script downloads the JS files, registers Lovelace resources, scans your dashboard for existing climate cards, and replaces them with the correct Hive TRV card (individual TRV vs room group auto-detected).
