ZenCODE is a native-Swift coding agent for the terminal and ACP editors. This release is mostly about better web research, scheduled prompts on macOS, and memory.

Highlights

  • Much better web.fetch. Long pages are read in parts (offset continues a truncated result), navigation/sidebars/footers are dropped by default (mainContentOnly), and you can pick format (markdown, text, html), a CSS selector, and render mode. JSON, text, XML and (on macOS) PDF are recognized instead of being treated as HTML. The HTML→Markdown converter is now built in and identical on macOS and Linux. See Docs/web.md.
  • web.search gains timeRange (day/week/month/year), region, up to 30 results across 3 pages, and a fallback to DuckDuckGo Lite on bot checks.
  • ZenCRON for /cron on macOS. Cron now starts a small, stable host program that launches zen, so macOS privacy permissions are granted once and survive ZenCODE updates. Build and install it from /setup › Scheduled prompts (ZenCRON).
  • Search tools in the core. search.glob, search.grep and search.locate now ship inside zen on macOS and Linux, no feature install needed. Existing search-tools setups keep working.
  • Memory. Switching embedding model in /setup can now re-embed your memory graphs (resumable, with progress), vectors move to a compact binary file (graph version 4), and recall links related notes more selectively.
  • Voice on macOS now uses Apple's SpeechAnalyzer: more accurate on long speech, always on-device.

Heads-up

  • Linux prebuilt archives need the Swift 6.4 runtime again. The static Swift runtime added in 3.0.1 has been removed. If you want optional features on Linux, install with Scripts/install-linux.sh, which sets up Swift and a source checkout for you.
  • Jira on macOS: the API token now lives in a 0600 file under ~/.zencode/jira/credentials/ instead of the Keychain, so /cron jobs can use it. You'll be asked to set it up once more.

Install

  • macOS arm64 and Linux x86_64/arm64 archives are attached below (with .sha256).
