ZenCODE 3.2.0 makes model routing easier to set up, adds a Tester agent that validates changes without editing them, and gives providers stable, readable ids.

Highlights

  • Binding presets. binding-presets.json keeps model bindings per provider. In /setup > Agent model bindings, Apply binding presets lets you pick which configured providers to use and replaces every agent's bindings with theirs in one step; Reset clears them. Nothing is applied automatically. See Docs/bindings.md.
  • Tester agent role. The new tester role and the recommended Tester profile run builds, tests, and checks and report the results with evidence, without editing files or changing Git state. Create it from /setup ("Regenerate the recommended agents" replaces every profile). See Docs/agents.md.
  • Stable provider keys. Providers are identified by readable keys (openrouter, openai, anthropic, deepseek, ds4, chatgpt, claude, …) instead of generated UUIDs, and remote model ids become <provider>:<model>, for example openrouter:moonshotai/kimi-k3.1-pro.
  • One configuration per provider. /setup marks providers that are already configured and offers to reconfigure them instead of adding a second copy.
  • The README and Why ZenCODE are reorganized around three ideas: talking to sub-agents while they work, capability-based routing, and tools built on request with the Builder.

Heads-up

  • Settings migrate automatically at the first start (settings version 15): settings.json and the bindings in agents.json are rewritten to the new keys in one transaction, and saved sessions with old ids still restore. If two configured providers map to the same key (for example two OpenRouter entries), the first is kept and the other is removed with a warning.
  • Scripts and scheduled prompts that pass an old remoteapi:<uuid>:<model> id to --model or ZENCODE_AGENT_MODEL must switch to the new <provider>:<model> id (zen --help shows the form).
  • An agents.json with a tester profile is rejected by earlier ZenCODE versions, including an older zen still started by scheduled prompts: update every installation together.
