Quicky v0.1.7

Choose a tag to compare

@gianpmarc gianpmarc released this 27 Oct 13:42

Quicky v0.1.7

Fixed

  • Pressing Stop or Start twice during a recording transition no longer crashes the app or starts a second stream.
  • If macOS stops the recording stream (display disconnected, sleep, permission revoked), the frames captured so far are saved instead of being lost.
  • Pausing a recording now cuts the paused time from the video instead of leaving a frozen frame; the stored duration matches the file.
  • Deleting a capture moves it to the Trash instead of removing it permanently.
  • Copy and Delete keyboard shortcuts only act in the main library window; the screenshot editor and Settings keep their own keys.
  • Global shortcuts require at least one of ⌘, ⌃ or ⌥, reject combinations already used by another action, and can be reassigned to a combination Quicky already owns.
  • Closing the screenshot editor from the window close button asks for confirmation when there are unsaved annotations.
  • Editing a snap that is already in the library saves the result as a new "(edited)" capture and keeps the original.

Build

  • macOS DMG included: Quicky.dmg
  • SHA-256: 1dc8e121046b32f35f590ad2ff0579b62f14f32d6b0f3c8a8e09ea8e901e624d

This build is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized. Use the included first-launch instructions. Because the code signature differs from v0.1.6, macOS will ask for Screen Recording permission again after updating.

Quicky v0.1.6

@gianpmarc gianpmarc released this 26 Jun 17:04

Quicky v0.1.6

Fixed

  • Hides Quicky during full-screen screenshots so the app is not captured.
  • Hides Quicky windows during area selection and restores them after capture or cancellation.

Build

  • macOS DMG included: Quicky.dmg
  • SHA-256: bead06eb23b371e4f6c8410e1bbe8a5897c9fc99ad3a39c12e025f7a36e392f1

This build is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized. Use the included first-launch instructions.

Quicky v0.1.5

Choose a tag to compare

@gianpmarc gianpmarc released this 23 Jun 13:31

Changes

  • Removed window auto-detection from area selection. Area screenshots now capture exactly the region you drag — no more snapping the selection to detected window bounds, which prevented selecting slightly smaller or larger regions.

Install

Download Quicky.dmg, open it, and drag Quicky.app to Applications. Quicky is not Apple-notarized yet, so on first launch Control-click Quicky.app and choose Open (or run the included First Launch Quicky.command). See docs/INSTALL.md for the full flow.

Quicky v0.1.3

Choose a tag to compare

@gianpmarc gianpmarc released this 22 Jun 18:34

This release simplifies first launch for non-notarized distribution and fixes recording shortcuts.

Recording shortcuts fixed:

  • Option+Command+R now starts recording when the recording region is already open.
  • Option+Command+P now toggles Pause/Resume.
  • Option+Command+S still stops recording.
  • Native menu shortcuts were added for the same actions, and failed global hotkey registrations are now logged.

First launch / permissions changes:

  • The supported install path is now /Applications/Quicky.app only.
  • Quicky warns if it is run from a translocated path or if a duplicate copy exists in ~/Applications.
  • The DMG includes First Launch Quicky.command. After dragging Quicky.app to Applications, this helper removes quarantine with xattr and opens Quicky.
  • Packaging no longer creates a dev install in ~/Applications while building the DMG.

Important:

  • This build is still not Apple Developer ID notarized.
  • xattr only handles Gatekeeper quarantine. Screen Recording must still be enabled by the user once in System Settings.
  • Because the local signing identity was intentionally removed during testing, this DMG contains an ad-hoc signed app and the DMG itself is unsigned.

Quicky v0.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@gianpmarc gianpmarc released this 22 Jun 08:15

Fixes a crash when opening Record with Option+Command+R.

Root cause:

  • The floating recording controls window rendered RecordingControlPanel without injecting AppSettings.
  • RecordingControlPanel reads configured shortcut labels, so SwiftUI triggered a missing EnvironmentObject assertion and crashed.

What changed:

  • RecordingControlsWindowController now injects model.settings into the recording controls panel.
  • App bundle version is now set to 0.1.2 via the build script so crash reports identify the installed release correctly.

Verification:

  • swift build passed.
  • ./script/package_dmg.sh passed.
  • DMG verified with hdiutil.
  • Mounted Quicky.app passed codesign --verify --deep --strict.
  • Mounted app reports CFBundleShortVersionString 0.1.2.

SHA-256:

This build is still not Apple Developer ID notarized, so Gatekeeper's first-launch warning is expected.

Quicky v0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@gianpmarc gianpmarc released this 22 Jun 07:32

Fixes the Screen Recording permission flow for non-notarized distribution.

What changed:

  • Release DMGs now require the stable local signing identity "Quicky Local Code Signing" instead of ad-hoc signing.
  • Quicky now detects unsafe install locations such as translocated/DMG paths.
  • The permission banner includes Repair, which resets only Quicky's Screen Recording TCC entry and reopens System Settings.
  • Permission refresh now verifies ScreenCaptureKit access, matching the recorder path.
  • The DMG packaging step verifies the app bundle with strict code signing before publishing.

Install:

  1. Download Quicky.dmg.
  2. Drag Quicky.app to Applications.
  3. Control-click Quicky.app and choose Open if macOS warns about unidentified developer.
  4. Enable Screen Recording for Quicky.
  5. If the toggle is already enabled but the banner remains, open Quicky Settings > Permissions > Repair, enable Quicky again, then reopen the app.

Quicky v0.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@gianpmarc gianpmarc released this 19 Jun 16:05

Initial private Quicky release.

Install

  1. Download Quicky.dmg.
  2. Open the DMG.
  3. Drag Quicky.app to Applications.
  4. Launch Quicky from Applications.

Important: Gatekeeper

This build is distributed without Apple Developer ID notarization.

On first launch, macOS may warn that the developer cannot be verified. If you trust this private release, open Finder, go to Applications, Control-click Quicky.app, choose Open, then confirm Open again. This creates a one-time Gatekeeper exception for that copy of Quicky.

Permissions

Quicky requires Screen Recording permission for screenshots and recordings:

System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording > Quicky

Signing

This release artifact was generated without the local Quicky Local Code Signing identity. The app bundle is ad-hoc signed and the DMG is not Apple-notarized, so public users should expect the normal first-launch Gatekeeper warning.
