project setup wizard: "Update Readme" button does not function

Describe the bug

When opening a repo (without a readme) for the first time and when following the steps of the setup wizard, the button "Update Readme" does nothing.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open a repo (without a readme) for the first time and
2. Follow the steps of the setup wizard
3. Click the button "Update Readme"
4. Observe that nothing happens

Expected behavior

Readme is created or updated.
