v1.1.0 - YAML Frontmatter & Link Metadata
What's New
YAML Frontmatter
All bookmark files now include rich YAML frontmatter:

thread_length: 3

links:
- url: https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code

language: TypeScript
---Link Metadata Extraction
- GitHub repos: Fetches stars, description, language, topics from GitHub API
- Articles & YouTube: Extracts OpenGraph tags (title, description, site)
- Caching: Metadata cached locally for 7 days to avoid redundant requests
Hashtag Handling
- Hashtags are extracted from original tweet and listed in frontmatter
- All hashtags in tweet text are wrapped in backticks (
#hashtag) to prevent Obsidian tag pollution
Backfill for Existing Bookmarks
New -F / --backfill-frontmatter flag (use with -R rebuild mode):
birdmarks -R -F # Add frontmatter to all existing bookmarks- Merges with any existing frontmatter (preserves custom fields you've added)
- Only adds frontmatter to files that don't already have birdmarks-generated frontmatter
Other Improvements
- Completion state tracking (knows when full catalog has been scanned)
- 136 tests with 71% function / 63% line coverage
