Notes Tech 3.2.0 adds an encrypted backup, the import of Markdown files, a search inside the note and sharing from other apps — and long notes are now as fluid as short ones. Your notes, folders and vaults are kept.

Before you update

  • Installed from F-Droid? Wait for F-Droid. F-Droid builds and signs Notes Tech with its own key, so these APKs cannot update an F-Droid install; 3.2.0 reaches F-Droid a few days after this release, once F-Droid has built it.
  • Installed from GitHub? Any APK below updates 3.1.x, 3.0.0 or a 2.0.x in place.

New

  • Encrypted backup (Settings → Encrypted backup): your notes and folders, trash included, in one .ntbackup file, encrypted (Argon2id, AES-256-GCM) by a generated code or a passphrase you choose. A passphrase vault travels as it is, still sealed by its own passphrase; an open PIN vault travels inside the backup's encryption and gets a new PIN when restored. Restoring adds and never overwrites: the whole file is checked first, then written at once. The panic mode does not reach a backup you saved elsewhere: keep it somewhere safe.
  • Import Markdown or text files, or a ZIP of them — a Notes Tech export, an Obsidian vault: folders kept, frontmatter read, never into a vault. At most 500,000 characters per note.
  • Find in note: matches highlighted, "3 / 12", previous and next, while reading and writing; a note opened from a search result opens on its first match.
  • Share to Notes Tech from another app: a text becomes a note in the Inbox, text files are imported — after the app lock, when it is on.

Better

  • Long notes are fluid. The note's text is now written in Android's own text field, which draws only the lines on screen: on a Galaxy S9, typing in a 100,000-character note went from about 1 second per keystroke to about 20 ms, and a 450,000-character note types and scrolls like a short one. The keyboard reads only the text around the cursor, and a very long note no longer freezes when opened.
  • What Android's text field would add is closed: the selection menu keeps Cut, Copy, Paste and Select all (no Share, no "Translate"); a vault note's copies still go the protected way; no autofill, no spell checker sending the text around.
  • Still no network permission: the same 4 permissions as 3.1.1.

Which APK should I download?

  • notes-tech-universel-3.2.0.apk: works on every phone. If in doubt, pick this one.
  • notes-tech-arm64-v8a-3.2.0.apk: almost every phone since 2016, smaller.
  • notes-tech-armeabi-v7a-3.2.0.apk: older 32-bit phones.
  • notes-tech-x86_64-3.2.0.apk: emulators.
