v1.0.0 (firmware 40.07)

First public release.

  • 8-track looper with patterns and song; per-track MIDI channel and output (USB, DIN, both), mute, solo, polymeter
  • Harmony: scales, 53 chord styles, chord pads coloured by function; changes heard at once on held notes
  • Nine mod-wheel effects, one per track, picked with SHIFT + wheel: GLIDE, BLOOM, RISE, SHIMMER, SWELL, SPREAD,
    STRUM, DENSITY, STUTTER
  • Step edit, arpeggiator, per-track MIDI effects, internal or followed clock with clock out
  • Seven screen themes and the boot animation
  • Note output rule: no stuck notes, whatever the effects do
  • Tools: app packages with no Akai bytes, fetch_stock.py, flasher with dry run and flash stock

Firmware history before the public release: 40.01 bring-up, 40.02 first playable, 40.03 fixes, 40.04 boot
animation, 40.05 live re-voice, wheel UX, timer clock, 40.06 nine-effect wheel picker, per-track effects, latch on
keys, 40.07 note output rule, per-track sound, GLIDE curve.

Install

Follow the README: python3 tools/fetch_stock.py, then python3 tools/mpk4_flash.py flash openmpk4_v1.0.0_fw40.07_app_package.bin (dry run, must say "image OK"), then the same with --write.
