Is it **necessary** to restrict access to the website itself? Restricting downloading of
the Go programming language is horse of a different color. I'm aware of ITAR
(International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control)
rules but why should my legends in computer science not even let me and exclude me of
visiting even the website of www.golang.org and the pearl they have created?
Surely, accessing the website itself is not against any rules within the United States
but surely it is against the spirit of BSD and CC licenses and Free software movement.
Best,
Salman,
Iran
golang.org is hosted on Google App Engine and my understanding is that U.S. law forces
Google to block App Engine from Iran. I'm sorry about this situation but I don't know
what we can do about it.
Thanks for commenting on this issue.
As you know, GNU/Linux users can access Go package from the repo of their distros. But
for instance Windows users must access the website itself. I filed this issue since I
found Go a great programming language. Anyway, the website can be accessed using TOR.
Best,
Salman
