spec: program does not necessary exit when main function returns

The main function is just that, the main function. It is not any old main function or a
special instance thereof.
I fear the spec's readability is being diluted with nitpicks like this, which are
needless and hard to fix. What is the "first instance" of main, for instance?
But in this case, you fix it by reducing the keystrokes. So, try this. Instead of:
Program execution begins by initializing the main package and then
invoking the function <code>main</code>.
When the function <code>main</code> returns, the program exits.
Make the second sentence
When that function invocation returns, the program exits.
