Halv v1.0.3
What's new
- The consent screens now call usage events pseudonymous instead of anonymous, because each event carries a random install ID. Your saved answer stays the same.
- Halv now runs on Tauri 2.12, with newer updater, notification, dialog, deep-link and opener plugins.
- Security updates for tokio, webpki-roots and webpki-root-certs, in the app and in its remote protocol library (halv-remote).
- The updater no longer uses the zip 4.6.1 library, which had security issues.
- Security update for the vite build tool.
1.0.2
- Halv asks before it sends a task brief to Halv Cloud for routing. Nothing goes out until you say yes, and you can change the answer in Settings.
- Cloud handoff is off for now. The Automations panel no longer offers it.
- Halv Engine now runs Headroom 0.41, built from the public fork at github.com/halv-ai/headroom. Halv Engine stays off by default.
- Halv releases now come from the public repository github.com/halv-ai/halv.
- Each release attaches SHA256SUMS, runtime file manifests, SBOMs and build provenance. RELEASING.md shows how to check them, and REPRODUCING.md shows how to rebuild the runtime.
- The installers now include the license text of each third-party Rust crate and npm package.
1.0.1
- Attention queue: agents that wait for you and results that you did not see yet, oldest first, at the bottom of the sidebar. Cmd+Shift+U (Ctrl+Shift+U on Windows and Linux) opens the next one.
- Halv Engine, the context compression proxy, is now optional and off by default, also after this update. Agents connect directly to their provider. Turn it on in Settings when you want compression. Chat mode still starts it when you send a message.
- macOS notifications: Settings shows whether macOS allows Halv banners and can send a test notification. A finished agent no longer hides the banner of a failed one.
- The Dot pin is optional and off by default. Turn it on in Settings.
- Typed terminal input is never dropped. The "terminal input arrived too late" error is gone.
- On Retina displays, a file or image that you drag onto a terminal now pastes its path into that terminal.
- Routing savings show one estimate instead of a wide range.
- Windows and Linux: the download link from the Halv site now opens Halv.
- Opt-in usage events can add a daily usage summary. Halv asks again before it sends it.
- Update checks look in the public halv-ai/halv repository first.
1.0
- Halv is open source. The desktop app is under the Apache-2.0 license: https://github.com/halv-ai/halv
- Everything that runs on your computer is free and needs no account: the proxy and its savings, RTK, crux, terminals, projects, agent status and the local savings meter. Halv never blocks chat or terminals.
- Halv Cloud is the paid plan. It adds task routing to cheaper models, automatic account rotation and a synced savings dashboard. Paid, trial and lifetime accounts keep everything they had.
- Usage events are now opt-in. Halv asks once and lists every event it can send. Nothing is sent until you say yes, and you can change the answer in Settings.
- Cmd-click a file path or a URL printed in a terminal to open it. Folders open in Finder, HTML files open in the browser, and Shift+Cmd-click reveals the file in Finder. Relative paths follow the current directory of the shell.
- The proxy restarts by itself when it falls. Restarts no longer stop after three tries, the port stays the same so open agents keep working, and each exit goes to a local log.
- Security updates for rustls, openssl and the build tools.
0.8.1
- Drag a file or folder into a terminal: Halv pastes the path, quoted for the shell. Dropped text pastes too.
- Memory chip in the status bar: the memory of Halv and its terminals, and the number of open terminals. Click it for the memory of each terminal.
- Inactive accounts in the status bar popover show every usage window. A 5h window that already reset shows as 0% instead of vanishing.
- Routing savings never show a loss. A failed or escalated route adds zero instead of a negative amount.
0.8.0
- Tabs for every workspace: agents, terminals, and conversations open as tabs. Cmd+T opens a terminal, Option+Cmd+T an agent, and Ctrl+Tab switches between recent tabs.
- New Projects sidebar with worktrees, tabs, and live agents. Each agent shows whether it is working, waiting for you, or done.
- Open a project with one click. In Pro mode, an empty workspace offers Claude Code, Codex, and your other agents, an empty terminal, or a text conversation.
- Terminals that are already open move into the tabs of their project. A terminal outside any project shows under Chats.
- A folder that holds several git repositories becomes a group, with one project for each repository.
- Agent status now works for older sessions too: Halv reads the terminal title when the agent sends no other signal.
- Savings in dollars: Halv shows what it saved at API prices, model routing included.
- Optional automatic rotation of Claude accounts before an account reaches its limit.
- No account wall before your first result: Halv asks for an account only after it shows what it saved.
- Windows: no more console windows from background processes, better agent CLI detection, and a more reliable ChatGPT sign-in.
- Security fixes.
