Staypaw 1.3.0 keeps coding agents' windows off your keyboard, even while you're idle.
Try it
- From 1.1 or later, do nothing: Staypaw updates itself within 4 hours, or a minute after it next starts.
- Ask Claude Code or Codex to check something in a browser, and take your hands off the keyboard.
- When the browser opens, focus stays where you were. The focus log says "in a window claude.exe started".
What's new
- Agent windows: a window that
claude.exeorcodex.exestarted, or a browser Playwright installed, never keeps focus it takes. No app needs protecting, and you don't need to be typing. - Your switches still count: click or Alt+Tab to an agent's window and it stays in front. A link you open from one opens as before.
- The log names the agent: a restored steal's Reason ends with the launcher, such as "in a window codex.exe started".
- It only asks who started what: Staypaw reads which process started which from a Windows snapshot, and opens each only far enough to see when it started. A test fails on any process opened for more.
Heads-up
- An app you ask an agent to open won't stay in front. Its window counts as the agent's, so click it to use it.
- A page an agent opens in a browser you started isn't an agent window, since the agent didn't start that browser. Staypaw treats it like any other app.
Thanks
To everyone who described agents' browsers stealing focus in Playwright #41306 and chrome-devtools-mcp #2856.
