HelloNotes names its models by where they run, labels what each model made, and folds Ask Your Library into an Assistant that reads your notes and changes nothing. This download carries 1.3.4 as well, which went to the App Store without a direct download.

This release requires macOS 27 (and iOS / iPadOS 27 on the App Store), and the Mac app is Apple silicon only.

On the App Store too. Apple released 1.3.5 (build 35) on the App Store — Mac, iPhone and iPad — on 25 October (UTC), the day this download went out.

One thing the App Store build has that this one cannot: Cloud (Apple). Apple's Private Cloud Compute is provisioned for App Store builds and never for direct downloads, so this app offers Local (Apple) and your MLX models, and the Mac App Store's 1.3.5 adds Cloud (Apple).

Models, named by where they run

  • Local (Apple) is Apple's model on your Mac. Local with a model's name is an open model you run with MLX — every model in the folder you point Access MLX Models… at is listed, not just one. Choose the default in Settings ▸ AI; the Assistant can use another for one conversation.
  • Each Assistant reply, summary, suggested tag or link, rewrite and draft says which model made it.
  • The notice about AI services HelloNotes no longer supports names the model you can choose, where it showed "(Function)".

The Assistant reads

  • Ask Your Library is now part of the Assistant, which searches your notes more thoroughly — by section, and to the end of a long note — shows the notes it read, and summarises earlier messages when a conversation grows long. A note's text takes the room the conversation has left, so a question about your notes gets as much of them as the model can hold.
  • It is experimental, and it no longer changes your notes: it gives you text to paste. Editing from the Assistant returns in a later release.
  • Report… beside any AI answer or suggestion opens an email to us with what the model was given, and Settings ▸ Support ▸ Contact has our address.

Fixed

  • A note or attachment that iCloud Drive keeps online is downloaded when you open it. If it cannot be, HelloNotes says so and offers Try Again, instead of a download that never ends.
  • A note made in a folder of an iCloud Drive collection can be renamed — by its title, or from the sidebar. (iPhone and iPad, through the App Store; the Mac was never affected.)
  • Tips no longer appear over the window.
