Backups: in Chrome and Edge a save dialog chooses where they go (asked in the Layerling User Group on Facebook): Every backup went into the browser's download folder, so keeping them in a folder of one's own, on a cloud drive say, meant moving each file by hand or sending every download there. Back up all, Back up for chosen designs or a folder, the server's backup and Back up custom shapes now open a save dialog in Chrome and Edge, with a folder memory of their own (layerling-backups, apart from the designs and the slicer files), so the next backup lands in the same folder. The dialog comes first, while the click still counts, and a closed dialog makes no backup; Firefox and Safari, and a dialog that will not open, keep the download. A picked file that gets nothing (nothing to back up) is removed again where the browser can. The files chapter of the guide says so, in 15 languages.
Lid hinge, flush: the end knuckles fill rounded corners without end plugs too (Discussion #1387, PR #1428): Without end plugs, a flush hinge on a box with rounded corners cut the corner round the hinge's axis, from the end knuckle out to the round, and left a notch at both ends. Where the outline at the axis's height runs on past the end knuckles by more than the gap, the end knuckles now run on into both corners as they do with end plugs, cut to the outline and standing on the 45° slope, and the lid is the one the end plugs get. The pin's hole comes out through the corners' round faces; the pin ends half a millimetre inside, where its hole is still whole (55.5 mm on a 60 mm box with 6 mm corners). The status bar says how long, a printed pin is made that long, and the MCP tool reports hinge.pinLength. Square boxes, end plugs, outside and pivot hinges and round pots come out exactly as before. A new status text in 14 languages, guide chapter 6 in 15. Pointed out by @makinglayerschannel, built by @marcus040473.
Support rib: the clearance and print checks know it (Discussion #1385): The rib's bridges reach 0.3 mm into the part and are one line wide and one layer high, on purpose, so Check clearance reported an overlap of rib and part, and Print check thin walls and small overhangs on the rib. A rib now carries the id of its part as it was before any grouping (supportRibFor, localIdBase, lib/supportRibMark.ts), so it still knows it bundled or taken apart. Check clearance leaves out the pair of a rib and its part, Print check casts no rays from the rib's triangles for thin walls and leaves it out of the overhang figures; floating parts and contact with the plate are checked as before, rib included. The MCP checks answer the same. A rib made with 1.148.0 has no mark yet and still warns until made again. Guide chapter 11 in 16 languages, the MCP skill.
A part hidden in a group with a hole keeps its room (#1323): A group with a hole is cut into one body, and its box was that body's, so a wide ring hidden on an axle while the group was open shrank the group to the parts left on Done, and the alignment no longer counted the ring, as it did in a group without a hole. The box now takes in the hidden solids there too, with the body where it stood inside it (not below the body's foot, where the view stands a body), and the alignment counts them in every direction, also in a group inside a group and turned. A group hidden as a whole inside an open group stays out of the cut as well, instead of coming back part by part. The same holds for a group with an imported mesh. Reported by @Elkniwt.
Guide: tips on the drawing cards for the grid and the ends of curves (Discussion #1322): The cards said nothing about the snap grid or why a curve starts straight. Line now says that every clicked point lands on the snap grid and that with Shift the 15° step comes first; Bezier Curve that the first stretch only bends at its start when the first point is dragged too; Smooth Curve that the first and last stretch bend less, and how to bend them with the end point's handle; Freehand that the stroke ignores the grid but a point dragged afterwards snaps to it. In English and German, as the cards so far. Suggested by @uninteressant2026.
Chamfer and fillet: a group whose faces could not be merged after a union comes through (Issue #1425): The edge tool joins a group's parts into one exact body one by one and merges the faces after each union. In an enclosure of 40 parts that merge broke the union with a screen holder made exact from a mesh; every step after it stayed broken, the repair at the end could not save it, and the tool said "The grouped body could not be repaired into valid geometry" before a single edge could be picked. When a group does not come through that way, the worker now tries once more and keeps every union whose faces cannot be merged without breaking it as it is, as it already did after cutting a hole (#938). The enclosure is ready in about 10 s and its outer edges take a chamfer or a fillet. A group that came through before is built exactly as before, so its edges and their numbers stay. Danish (PRs #1430, #1431, #1433, #1435): The what's-new cards for 1.147.0 and 1.148.0 and for the support rib checks in Danish, two more sentences and the four new tips on the drawing cards in chapter 07 of the guide, and "mesh" instead of "net" in the paint text and in chapter 03. By @Henrikth12.
