007: Agent Under Fire PC port 1.0.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 10:35

A fix for a crash in 1.0.0, on both the PAL and USA discs.

Update: open the launcher and press Update, or download AgentUnderFireLauncher.exe below if you are new. Your saves and settings are kept.

Fixed

  • A crash on foot when the game draws certain models. 1.0.0's fix for an older crash in the game's own code could itself cause a crash
    whenever a model with exactly eight parts was drawn (reported on the USA disc). Both crashes are fixed.

Everything else is as in 1.0.0. Please report anything you find, with AgentUnderFire\play\logs\auf.log and any .dmp file beside the game.

007: Agent Under Fire PC port 1.0.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Nov 22:20

The first release of the unofficial native PC port of 007: Agent Under Fire (original Xbox): the game's own code statically
recompiled into Windows programs, not an emulator.

No game files are included, and no game code. You need your own copy of the European (PAL) or USA Xbox release: an .iso of your
disc, or a folder with its files. The launcher finds which you have, downloads the package for it, and compiles the game's code on your
PC from your disc.

Getting started

  1. Download AgentUnderFireLauncher.exe below and put it in a folder of its own.
  2. Run it. Windows may warn about an unrecognised app: More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Choose your disc image (or folder) and press Get the game ready. How long that takes depends on your PC and connection.
  4. Press Play. PC Settings is in the main menu and RECOMP is a tab of the pause screen; F1 opens the full settings
    window at any time.

Nothing else to install: no Visual Studio, no Git, no admin rights. The two package zips below are for the launcher, which fetches the
right one itself.

What's in it

  • On foot, driving and mounted guns, in English, and on the PAL disc French and German too, with the switch between the game's programs done for you.
  • Widescreen and ultrawide: the 3D view widened, the menus and HUD kept in proportion.
  • High frame rates: on foot the game follows the frame rate cap, up to 240 or unlimited, with its speed tied to real time.
    Driving and mounted guns run at 60 game steps a second and above a cap of 60 draw frames in between.
  • Mouse and keyboard: direct mouse look and gun aim, a pointer in the menus, rebindable keys, and prompts that show your keys.
  • Graphics: render scale up to 200%, MSAA, FXAA, SMAA, smooth alpha edges, sharpening, texture filtering, a sharp scaling
    filter, enhanced textures, sharp text and HUD, and a field of view from 50 to 150%.
  • Achievements, optional auto-aim, skip intro movies, and F12 screenshots.

Good to know

  • On the PAL disc, driving missions and mounted guns run at 60 game steps a second instead of 50, at the same game speed, using the timing EA gave the USA release; the USA disc has 60 already. Turning off High Frame Rate returns PAL's to 50, and on foot to the console's 30.
  • Slow motion in driving cut scenes is held to half speed, so it is not down to a quarter of the frames.
  • Above a cap of 60, in driving missions and on mounted guns, turn Vertical Sync off for the most frames. Motion there can be slightly uneven, which can show as a faint flicker on high-contrast edges such as signs and window frames. A cap of 60 draws no frames in between.
  • Enhanced Textures can cause a brief hitch as new textures appear. It is off by default.
  • Multiplayer has not been tried, not every later mission has been played through, and the USA disc has had less play than PAL. Please report what you find.
