CodeAque 0.9.7
CodeAque 0.9.7: tap the Update-ready banner
- PC console home: the top "Update X ready" notice is now a button. Tap or click it and the same Update screen as Settings > Update CodeAque opens (notes, checksum check, install, restart). You no longer have to dig through Settings for an update that is already waiting.
- Classic PC top bar: the green UPDATE pill was already wired the same way; it keeps that behaviour and shows a hand cursor on hover.
- Android: no top Update-ready banner on the home screen (only Settings > Update). Unchanged.
To get 0.9.7 once: PC Settings > Update CodeAque. After that, later updates can start from the top banner itself.
Untested: controller focus on the status-bar notice (mouse/touch is the required path; the bar items are not in the D-pad focus ring today).
CodeAque 0.9.6
CodeAque 0.9.6: Projector mode, free movies, Games Store
- Projector mode (Android): Settings > Projector mode. Bigger tiles, TV overscan-safe margins, Cloud and Media first. TV boxes and projectors get a one-time hint.
- Free Movies & TV: Pluto TV, Tubi, Plex Free, Freevee, plus BBC iPlayer / ITVX / Channel 4 (UK). Opens each service's own app or website. IPTV uses your own playlist in VLC (Android) or Hypnotix (PC).
- Games Store: Top / Free / Paid pages on the official stores (Steam, Epic, GOG, Humble). Prices stay on the stores.
- Accounts: sign in inside each platform's own app. CodeAque never sees a password.
- Website: one-tap Android / Projector / TV box APK download.
To update: PC Settings > Update CodeAque. Android Settings > Update.
Untested: real projector / TV box hardware, and the free TV apps on every device (checked in the emulator and with unit tests).
CodeAque 0.9.5
CodeAque 0.9.5: pictures of your games, Steam and PC Games at the top
- Game pictures: My Games tiles are now tall box-art tiles. On PC they use Steam's own library pictures (Steam's local cache first, then Steam's public image server), the covers Lutris and Heroic already saved, and libretro box art for your own ROM files (fetched once, then kept on your PC). On Android they use the game's own banner or icon, and libretro box art for files in your game folders. No pictures are included in CodeAque. A game without a picture gets CodeAque's own coloured tile (no logos).
- Steam first: a Steam tab is first in the top bar. On PC it has Steam Big Picture and your installed Steam games. On Android it has Steam Link and the Steam app, or their Play Store pages. Steam games also come first in My Games.
- PC Games tab (PC): right after Steam, with Lutris, Heroic (Epic / GOG / Amazon) and Windows games.
To update: PC Settings > Update CodeAque. Android Settings > Update.
Untested: real hardware, real Steam, Lutris or Heroic pictures, and libretro box art downloads (checked with made-up demo games and art only).
CodeAque 0.9.4
CodeAque 0.9.4: your installed games on the home screen
- Android – My Games: games already installed on the device show up first with their own icons, plus a tile for each emulator you already have (RetroArch, PPSSPP, DuckStation and others). All Apps lists every installed app. Both update by themselves when you install or remove something.
- Android – your own game files: Add game folder opens Android's folder picker; the game files in that folder are listed and open with an emulator you have installed. Nothing is downloaded or included.
- Android – real full screen: the status and navigation bars are hidden (swipe from the edge to see them for a moment), and the screen goes under the camera cut-out.
- PC – same home as the Android app: My Games (installed Steam, Lutris, Heroic and Windows games, your ROM systems, installed emulators), Retro, Cloud, Emulators, Streams, Media, Music, Downloads, All Apps and Settings. Controllers, Update, themes and CodeAque-only mode still work. Settings > Classic home brings back the old grid.
To update: Android Settings > Update. PC Settings > Update CodeAque.
Untested: real hardware. The Android app was checked on an Android 11 emulator, not on Android 14. The PC home was checked with demo games only.
CodeAque 0.9.3
CodeAque 0.9.3: no more old look after an update
- The boot screen (start menu, start-up splash, login screen) now uses Code's red and chrome splash. Before this it still had the old gold art.
- After updating, CodeAque checks the boot pictures stored outside its folder. If they're old, Settings > Boot opens with one highlighted row: press it and type your password once.
- The update points menu, autostart and desktop shortcuts that started an older CodeAque copy at the updated one, and removes an old CodeAque intro video picked in Settings. Your own videos are kept.
- The Update screen and page headers have the neon look.
Untested: the boot screen on a real computer (layout checked with previews only).
CodeAque 0.9.2
CodeAque 0.9.2
- Christmas theme on PC, Handheld and Android: falling snow, snow-capped tiles and a soft original chime.
- Update from Handheld mode (Settings > Update CodeAque). An update replaces the app, themes, splash, icons, intro video, emulator settings and menu entries, with no terminal needed.
- Android self-update in Settings > Update. Install this APK by hand once if you're on 0.9.1 or older.
- No-terminal first install: download CodeAque-Install.desktop and double-click it. It checks SHA256SUMS before installing.
Untested: real hardware, the full Android install prompt, and the web installer on a fresh Mint machine.
v0.9.1 New splash screen
UNTESTED ON REAL HARDWARE (checked on an Android 11 emulator and a virtual screen only).
- Code's new splash screen is now the start-up screen in the PC launcher, Handheld / Win600 mode and the Android launcher (codeaque-launcher.apk). The loading bar fills and the dots light up while CodeAque starts; any key, click, tap or button skips it.
- Scales cleanly to 1280x720 and 640x480 without cutting into the logo.
- The bundled start-up video was rebuilt from the splash.
- Win600 installer (install-win600.sh) included. No BIOS, firmware, keys, ROMs or games included.

- New CodeAque logo and a pure gaming look: dark charcoal, white logo, neon cyan accent - in the PC launcher, Handheld mode, the Android launcher and the start-up video. The old Egyptian artwork is gone.
- Android launcher (codeaque-launcher.apk): Settings > Theme - Neon (default), Power Up (orange and blue energy aura, power-up sound), Catch (red, white and yellow sunburst, spinning-star select, chime). All original art and sounds.
- Android: Settings > Wallpaper - use your own picture from the device as the background.
- Win600 installer (install-win600.sh) included again.
- No BIOS, firmware, keys, ROMs or games included.

- CodeAque Launcher for Android (codeaque-launcher.apk, Android 7+, made for RG3566-type handhelds): a light home screen in the Handheld look. Tiles open your installed apps or offer the Play Store page; cloud tiles fall back to the website; Retro opens RetroArch. Checked on an Android 11 emulator only. Guide: docs/android.md.
