@huanglizhuo huanglizhuo released this 08 Nov 11:16

FuseBar 1.5.1

This patch addresses the Wi-Fi confirmation panel reported in issue #2.

  • Turning Wi-Fi off now shows confirmation inside the Wi-Fi submenu, so clicking Cancel or Turn Wi-Fi Off does not dismiss the menu as an outside click.
  • Escape cancels the confirmation first; pressing it again closes the submenu. Closing and reopening the menu clears pending confirmation.
  • Repeated confirmation submits only one power change, and a failed change can be retried with the error visible.

Install

Download FuseBar-1.5.1-macOS.zip, extract it, and move FuseBar to Applications. Quit an older version before replacing it. Requires macOS 14 or later; supports Apple Silicon and Intel.

Validation

The fix passed 95 XCTest and 28 Swift Testing checks on macOS 26.7. The regression test exercises real SwiftUI controls with simulated submenu presentation and Wi-Fi writes; the reporter's macOS 15.8.1 / M1 environment still needs confirmation. The GitHub publication workflow requires Developer ID signing, notarization and independent verification before publishing.

FuseBar 1.5.0

This update makes routine status work more selective and everyday app and audio controls clearer.

  • The menu-bar image is regenerated only when its visible state changes. Tooltips and accessibility descriptions still receive updated network and device details.
  • Battery changes use system notifications, while audio keeps its existing system listener. The three-second fallback remains, with fewer battery and audio reads between full refreshes.
  • Installed-app search refreshes its catalog on demand, so newly installed or removed apps can appear without restarting FuseBar. Sound and Bluetooth results show both their category and the action Return performs.
  • Running apps offer normal Quit. Force Quit requires a separate warning with Cancel as the default button. Hold Command to see the numbers for ⌘1–⌘9.
  • Refreshing sound outputs keeps the existing list visible and does not block volume controls. Bluetooth audio connections show whether FuseBar is connecting, waiting for an audio channel, or switching the output.
  • Diagnostic previews and copies withhold error text that could contain names or file paths. Actionable errors remain visible inside the app.

FuseBar remains free and local, with no accounts, ads, analytics or subscriptions.

Install

Download FuseBar-1.5.0-macOS.zip, extract it, and move FuseBar to Applications. Quit an older version before replacing it. Requires macOS 14 or later; supports Apple Silicon and Intel.

Validation

All 94 XCTest and 28 Swift Testing checks passed using the standard signed test workflow. Offscreen previews were generated in all five languages, with representative layouts inspected. These checks do not establish energy savings or verify live Bluetooth/audio routing, sleep/wake, or menu-bar readability on every display. Developer ID signing, notarization and independent release verification are required by the GitHub publication workflow.

@github-actions github-actions released this 18 Oct 17:35

FuseBar 1.4.1

FuseBar now explains exactly why macOS asks for location access: to display your connected Wi-Fi name and show nearby networks when you open the Wi-Fi panel.

  • Clearer permission prompts in English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, French and Spanish.
  • The Wi-Fi panel explains that permission is optional, geographic location is not read, and network names remain on your Mac.
  • Battery and audio features remain available without location permission.

FuseBar remains free and local, with no accounts, ads, analytics or subscriptions. A new Mac App Store submission is being prepared; this release does not mean App Store approval.

Install

Download FuseBar-1.4.1-macOS.zip, extract it, and move FuseBar to Applications. Quit an older version before replacing it. Requires macOS 14 or later; supports Apple Silicon and Intel.

Validation

The local build and all 83 XCTest plus 26 Swift Testing checks passed. This update changes permission text, not the permission request or Wi-Fi scanning implementation. New App Store signing and review are verified separately from the GitHub release.

FuseBar 1.4.0

@huanglizhuo huanglizhuo released this 11 Oct 11:07

FuseBar 1.4.0

The ring now shows your battery percentage, and the whole icon turns red when the battery runs low.

  • Battery percentage on the ring. The number sits in an opening at the top of the ring. The ring now fills in two halves: the left half up to 50%, then the right half from the top down. Turn the number off in Settings under Show in the ring › Battery percentage. It is hidden while the battery state is unknown and on Macs without a battery.
  • Battery level and charging at a glance. With the number at the top, the bottom of the ring keeps showing the charging bolt and the other alerts. The bottom slot's battery percentage option was removed; if you had chosen it, the bottom returns to alerts and volume dots, and the number now appears at the top.
  • Red when the battery is low. Below 20% on battery power, the whole icon turns red, in the menu bar and in the panel. Below 10%, the battery readout that appears beside the ring is red too. Plugging in restores the normal icon.

FuseBar stays free and local: no accounts, ads, analytics, or subscriptions. It is distributed through GitHub releases and is not published on the Mac App Store.

Install

Download FuseBar-1.4.0-macOS.zip, extract it, and move FuseBar to Applications. Quit a running older version before replacing it. Requires macOS 14 or later; the universal app supports Apple Silicon and Intel.

Validation

83 XCTest and 26 Swift Testing checks pass, including new tests for how the opened ring splits into halves, when the number shows, when the icon turns red, and the fallback for the retired bottom battery setting. The menu bar icon was checked live on macOS 26.7 at the real battery level and at simulated 76%, 15%, and 7% levels. A real discharge below 20%, Intel Macs, and macOS 14 and 15 have not yet been verified on hardware.

FuseBar 1.3.2

@huanglizhuo huanglizhuo released this 05 Oct 11:27

FuseBar 1.3.2

A fix for the first click while typing in the panel's search field.

  • Clicking a row now works on the first try while an input method is composing. The panel focuses its search field on open. With a composing input method (such as pinyin), the first click anywhere else in the panel was spent committing that composition: the row under the cursor never fired, and the committed text replaced the status rows with search results — switching the input source appeared to do nothing until a second attempt. FuseBar now discards the uncommitted composition before the click is dispatched, so the first click lands on the row and the half-typed pinyin is not turned into a search query. Clicking back into the search field still edits the composition as before.

FuseBar stays free and local: no accounts, ads, analytics, or subscriptions. It is distributed through GitHub releases and is not published on the Mac App Store.

Install

Download FuseBar-1.3.2-macOS.zip, extract it, and move FuseBar to Applications. Quit a running older version before replacing it. Requires macOS 14 or later; the universal app supports Apple Silicon and Intel.

Validation

82 XCTest and 25 Swift Testing checks pass, including three new tests for discarding the composition on row clicks while keeping it for clicks inside the field. The first-click behavior is verified live with a pinyin input method: with the composition active, the first click opens the input-source submenu and the selection switches, confirmed by reading the system input source back.

@huanglizhuo huanglizhuo released this 04 Oct 18:11

FuseBar 1.3.1

A fix for keyboard navigation in search.

  • ↑/↓ and Return now work while an input method is composing. With pinyin or another composing input method, the arrow keys and Return went to the input method's candidate window, so they could not move through search results or open the selection. FuseBar now handles ↑, ↓, Return, and keypad Enter in the search field before the input method whenever there are results. Without results, the keys still reach the input method; ← and →, and keys pressed with ⌘, ⌃, ⌥, or ⇧, are unchanged.

FuseBar stays free and local: no accounts, ads, analytics, or subscriptions. It is distributed through GitHub releases and is not published on the Mac App Store.

Install

Download FuseBar-1.3.1-macOS.zip, extract it, and move FuseBar to Applications. Quit a running older version before replacing it. Requires macOS 14 or later; the universal app supports Apple Silicon and Intel.

Validation

79 XCTest and 25 Swift Testing checks pass, including new tests for the key mapping and for handling ↓ and Return before the field editor. Third-party input methods cannot be driven reliably in automated tests, so behavior while composing is confirmed by hand on a Mac with such an input method.

FuseBar 1.3.0

Search now does more than open apps, and the panel gets you back to work faster.

  • Search finds the right thing first. Results are ranked, with exact and prefix matches on top, so "sa" opens Safari instead of Messages. Apps are also found by their English file or bundle name (Terminal for 终端, "vscode"), by initials ("vsc"), and by pinyin ("wx" or "weixin" for 微信).
  • Search controls your devices. Type a sound output to switch to it, a paired Bluetooth device to connect or disconnect it, an input source to switch to it, a project to open it, or a System Settings pane such as Displays or Focus. Each result says what Return will do, and device actions show their progress and verified result in the side menu.
  • A faster app grid. The app you opened FuseBar from moves to the last slot, so the first slot is the app you used before it. ⌘1–⌘9 open the first nine apps, and icons stay put while the panel is open.
  • Projects open where you code. Choose Finder, Visual Studio Code, Cursor, Zed, Xcode, Terminal, or any other app to open each project folder.
  • A Settings window. Settings and the project editor moved out of the panel into their own window, with General and Projects tabs. Diagnostics shows a summary without Wi-Fi, device, file, or project names that you can copy into a bug report, and a link points to the latest release. FuseBar never checks for updates in the background.
  • More detail where it helps. The battery menu shows the system's estimate of time remaining or time to full charge, and whether Low Power Mode is on. When Wi-Fi is associated but macOS reports no usable network on it, FuseBar says so instead of showing a plain connection.
  • A first-run guide that gets you started. Record the quick-open shortcut and learn search right in the guide.
  • Fixed: on a fresh install, Get started did not close the first-run guide.
  • The System controls page was removed; its System Settings shortcuts are now in search.

FuseBar stays free and local: no accounts, ads, analytics, or subscriptions. It is distributed through GitHub releases and is not published on the Mac App Store.

Install

Download FuseBar-1.3.0-macOS.zip, extract it, and move FuseBar to Applications. Quit a running older version before replacing it. Requires macOS 14 or later; the universal app supports Apple Silicon and Intel.

Validation

76 XCTest and 25 Swift Testing checks pass, including new tests for search ranking, aliases and pinyin, device search actions, ⌘-number shortcuts, the first-run guide, battery estimates, and the Wi-Fi state. Previews were rendered in all five languages on macOS 26.7. Intel Macs, macOS 14 and 15, and live audio or Bluetooth switching through search have not yet been verified on hardware.

FuseBar 1.2.1

@huanglizhuo huanglizhuo released this 30 Sep 09:10

FuseBar 1.2.1

A small visual update on top of 1.2.0.

  • Bluetooth now uses the real Bluetooth mark everywhere — the onboarding animation, the status list, the Bluetooth panel, search and the menu footer — instead of the generic antenna glyph, which read too easily as a cellular tower on a Mac.
  • The mark comes from the open MoreSFSymbols collection, because SF Symbols does not include a Bluetooth glyph. When Bluetooth is off, the mark keeps the standard slash treatment.
  • No behavior changes: battery, Wi-Fi, sound and Bluetooth status work exactly as before.

Install

Download FuseBar-1.2.1-macOS.zip, extract it, and move FuseBar to Applications. Quit a running older version before replacing it. Requires macOS 14 or later; the universal app supports Apple Silicon and Intel.

FuseBar 1.2.0

FuseBar now speaks English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, French, and Spanish. It follows your Mac's preferred language list, including regional variants, and falls back to English when none match. Restart FuseBar after changing the system/app language.

The home screen is now a calm running-apps grid:

  • The app area shows only apps that are currently running, sorted by recent use — no pins, favorites or manual ordering to maintain. Open anything else from the main search, which covers both running and installed apps.
  • Right-click a running app to hide, show, reveal it in Finder, or force quit it.
  • A new onboarding guide appears the first time you open the panel, featuring an animated orb that demonstrates how the ring maps to battery, Wi-Fi, sound and Bluetooth. It plays once and respects Reduce Motion.

Under the hood, this release consolidates duplicated UI logic, cleans up dead code, and ships with a fully automated release pipeline: every published build is Developer ID signed, notarized by Apple, and verified again on GitHub before it goes live.

Your data stays on your Mac; there are no ads, accounts, analytics, or subscriptions.

Install

FuseBar 1.0.1

@huanglizhuo huanglizhuo released this 16 Sep 06:23

FuseBar 1.0.1

Four dots now show approximate output volume in the menu bar. Charging, mute and other priority alerts replace the dots when needed.

This release fixes false Wi-Fi disconnection warnings when CoreWLAN cannot read the current connection. Personal Hotspot-class metered Wi-Fi uses the system chain-link symbol; normal Wi-Fi keeps its signal indicator. Network changes refresh promptly, including during startup.

Free, native and local. Requires macOS 14+. Universal app for Apple Silicon and Intel. The interface is Simplified Chinese. Hide redundant system icons manually in System Settings; FuseBar does not hide them automatically.

The app is signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Download the ZIP, unzip it and move FuseBar.app to Applications. SHA256SUMS.txt is generated by the verification Action.

Note: the hotspot icon uses the system's expensive-Wi-Fi flag. It does not identify a phone manufacturer and may also appear for another metered Wi-Fi network. Seventeen automated tests passed; full cross-device/OS testing remains incomplete.
