What's fixed in 9.0.4

  • Python backend restored on macOS - the DMG now ships the sidecar-bridge engine binary and the bundled Playwright Chromium browsers folder. No more "Backend failed to start" / "The sidecar was not found".
  • Sidecar now launches under hardened runtime - ad-hoc signing with hardened runtime made PyInstaller's onefile bootloader fail to dlopen the extracted Python ("different Team IDs"), which the app silently swallowed. The build is now ad-hoc signed without hardened runtime, so the engine loads reliably without notarization.
  • Fixed frozen path resolution - sidecar_bridge.py _proxy_path() no longer crashes with TypeError: expected str, bytes or os.PathLike object, not NoneType when frozen; relative paths now resolve against the engine data dir.
  • Portable sidecar packaging - hardcoded C:\Users\... paths removed; engine root resolves from INSTAREPORT_ROOT or sibling layouts.
  • New sidecar/build_sidecar.py - one command builds the native sidecar and drops it into src-tauri/binaries/.

Install

  1. Download InstaReport_9.0.4_aarch64.dmg and drag InstaReport into Applications.
  2. The app is ad-hoc signed (not notarized), so on first launch right-click -> Open -> Open to bypass Gatekeeper.
  3. Requires macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) or later on Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4/M5).
