Kryakl 0.15.3 (beta)

Install: download Kryakl-Setup-<version>.exe and run it. The installer is not signed, so Windows warns: More info → Run anyway. Kryakl starts with Windows and lives in the tray.

Update: Kryakl does not update itself. Download the new installer from here and run it: it installs over the old version, and your settings, words and downloads stay.

Changes are in the commits since the previous tag.

Krya is now Kryakl (0.15): install over Krya as usual. At its first start Kryakl moves Krya's settings, words, models and transcripts into its own folders; nothing downloads again. Quit Krya first if it still runs. 0.15.1 fixes 0.15.0, whose speech engine did not start after the move (dictation said "The speech engine is starting" at every press): it sets itself right at the first start, and nothing downloads again.

Updating from 0.11.0 or earlier, with Chrome's meeting recorder: the extension now has a fixed id, and Kryakl takes recordings only from it. Once: on chrome://extensions press Remove on the meeting recorder, then Load unpacked from Kryakl's folder again (the Google Meet page in Kryakl shows the steps).

What's new in 0.14.0

• Krya in Ukrainian or Russian: pick the interface language in Settings › Language (and on the first step of the setup). English stays the default. Every window follows: the tray menu, the cards, the talk window, the settings, the setup. Settings search also finds a line by its English words. What Krya teaches stays English: the duck's answers, the corrected text and the English half of a card.
• The uninstaller asks in Krya's language. Chrome's meeting recorder (0.5.0) follows Chrome's own language.
• A sound when the layout switches: on the Keyboard page, off until you turn it on. Pick Glass, Pluck, String or Duck. Tap one to hear it. English sounds a note higher than your other layouts, so you hear where you switched. It plays for Krya's keys and for Windows' own switch keys. It does not play when Krya fixes a word or another window comes in front.
• Fix: the quiet click when a word is fixed was silent in the installed app.
• Fix: a word fixed by hand could teach Krya to turn a real word into another layout's letters (for example "привет" → "ghbdtn"). Krya no longer learns such a fix and forgets one learned before.
• Krya's log now says why a word fixed by hand was not learned. A problem report carries it, never the word.

What's new in 0.13.0

• Talk to the duck: a chat window to practise speaking English. Speak or type a line; the duck answers aloud. Mistakes in your own lines are marked, with a short note in your language; the duck itself never corrects you. Runs on this computer with the Accurate model and needs a graphics card with 4 GB of its own memory or more. Speaking needs the speech engine; typing works without it.
• Six topics (Free talk, My day, A trip, At a café, Job interview, My work); the interview asks one question at a time and then says how it went.
• On the Talk page: your English level (A2, B1, B2) and a few lines about yourself, which the duck keeps in mind.
• Your talks are kept in the chat window: go on with one or delete it. The window maximizes, and its bar shows the model the duck runs on.
• Fix: Accurate and Most accurate could stop translating once Krya had measured their speed on this computer.
