Kelvin 1.4

@ilyabazhenov ilyabazhenov released this 02 Nov 14:03

What's new in 1.4

  • A new icon: the Noise knob. The same knob as on the panel, in the Dock, in Finder and in the menu bar.
  • The knob shows your Noise setting. In the Dock and in the menu bar it turns to Off, Soft, Normal or Maximum as you change it, and its lamp goes out while your own fine tuning is on.
  • A calmer menu bar. The icon no longer changes colour with the call; whether you're on air, muted or need to check something is in the menu.
  • Far lighter on air. With the window open during a call Kelvin now takes about 5 % of a core instead of about 40 %: only the meters redraw.
  • Fixes: a daily update check that falls during a call now runs a minute after the call ends instead of a day later.

Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon. Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Kelvin 1.3

@ilyabazhenov ilyabazhenov released this 02 Nov 07:10

What's new in 1.3

  • A new menu. On a call it reads top to bottom: whether you're on air, which app hears you and for how long, the level it gets, then Mute, Noise and Voice. The microphone and No processing sit at the bottom, and you can switch microphones right there.
  • Less delay. The call hears you about 30 ms sooner: 78 ms instead of 99–110.
  • Headsets sound fuller. A Bluetooth headset's mic keeps its upper range (5–8 kHz) and loses the harsh artefacts above it.
  • Fine tuning slides out beside the window. Every knob is in view at once, and the window itself never resizes or moves.
  • Fixes: an update no longer stops to ask «Quit Kelvin?» while it installs.

Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon. Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Kelvin 1.2

@ilyabazhenov ilyabazhenov released this 01 Nov 20:54

What's new in 1.2

  • A shorter window. Fine tuning moved up into the title bar, so the bottom row is gone and the window is shorter.
  • Bring back stays put. It sits beside the Custom lamp and no longer changes the window's height when it appears.

Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon. Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Kelvin 1.1

@ilyabazhenov ilyabazhenov released this 01 Nov 20:48

What's new in 1.1

  • Kelvin updates itself. It checks for a new version once a day and offers to install it — never while a call hears you. Any time: Kelvin → Check for Updates…. Coming from 1.0, install this version by hand once.
  • A new face. The window is one instrument panel: the lamp glows amber on standby, a readout says which app hears you, the VU meter is backlit, the noise knob has a dial. Explanations moved into tooltips.
  • Voice keys you can tell apart. Clearer is thinner and brighter, Warmer fuller and softer, Broadcast squeezed and louder — each a clear step from As is. Warmer now lifts higher voices too.
  • Smoother loudness. Loud syllables are tamed gently instead of with audible jumps. Your fine tuning is kept.
  • The menu bar icon tells the state by colour: red on air, ink when muted (orange if you talk while muted), orange when something needs you.
  • A new icon.
  • Fixes: the microphone works when another virtual microphone is the system default (it could hang or hear nothing); a recorder listening to Kelvin Mic no longer blocks the sound check's playback.

Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon. Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
