Captail v0.8.2
Pre-release
Pre-release
Warning
Captail 0.8.2 is an early public preview. Bugs and hardware-specific issues are expected.
Improved
- Fast clip editor timeline generation: Parallelized frame thumbnail extraction across CPU cores with bounded concurrency, reducing clip editor opening time by up to 3–4× when working with unindexed video files.
- RAM buffer memory safety: Set a default 2000 MB buffer ceiling for newly created configurations to prevent unbounded memory growth during high-resolution (1440p/4K) or high-bitrate instant replay sessions, while fully preserving explicit duration-only user choices.
- Disk buffer diagnostics and observability: Replaced silent catch blocks in disk buffer cleanup, segment pruning, and volume space inspection with actionable diagnostic logging.
Downloads
- Installer (recommended):
Captail-0.8.2-Setup-win-x64.exeincludes Captail, .NET, libobs, FFmpeg, and an uninstaller. - Portable: extract the entire
Captail-0.8.2-Portable-win-x64.zipbefore launchingCaptail.exe.
Compatibility and feedback
Captail is tested on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 and RTX 50 series. Older NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel hardware needs broader public testing. Report problems through GitHub Issues.
Release binaries are not Authenticode-signed yet. Windows may show an unknown-publisher or SmartScreen warning. Use SHA256SUMS.txt and GitHub build provenance to verify the download.
