Project Report Specifics The written report should communicate the findings of your project

in 8 pages or less (not including figures, tables or bibliography).

Use 1" margins and a 12 point Arial font. You do not have to use all 8 pages.

The report should be structured like a paper in a scientific journal and contain the following sections:

  1. Introduction - Frame the problem - describe its significance, cite existing relevant work, especially any work that inspired your (primary) approach.

  2. Methods - A concise description of your primary methods, any data normalization procedures, software tools utilized etc. Mention your secondary method as well (not a lot of detail required here).

  3. Validation Plan - Describe how you assessed the performance of models and tuned parameters.

  4. Results - Describe the 3-4 main points from your experiments that you want to emphasize. Put each in a subsection with a descriptive title.

  5. Discussion - Describe your motivation for choosing your primary approach. Interpret your experimental results. Why do you think that one approach/model perform better than another? Were your motivations for choosing your primary method justified?

  6. Bibliography - format in any way you see fit - insert citations throughout the introduction and methods.

A couple other points:

-Indicate who wrote each section - you can insert your name in parentheses by subsection for example, or at the beginning of a paragraph.

-Submit an electronic archive of your code (.tgz, .zip or other) along with a list of dependencies and instructions for building/compilation (if required).

-Lee
