@infernokun infernokun released this 17 Sep 05:55

Wording and cleanup only, no behaviour changes.

  • Inlined two single-use constants
  • Trimmed comments and normalised the README table and emphasis
  • Simplified the key file instructions

SyncDeck 1.4.0

@infernokun infernokun released this 17 Sep 05:49

The key file import now finds files where people actually put them.

  • Accepts syncdeck-key.txt, syncdeck-key, .syncdeck-key, .syncthing-key and .syncthing
  • Searches your home folder as well as synced folders, Downloads, Desktop and USB sticks
  • A file with one of those names that does not contain a key is left alone rather than imported and deleted
  • When nothing is found, the message lists the names and locations it looked in

SyncDeck 1.3.0

@infernokun infernokun released this 17 Sep 05:43

Setting up PC auto-add no longer means typing a 32 character key on the on-screen keyboard.

  • The PC's address is filled in automatically, taken from the device you are already syncing with.
  • The key can be imported from a file. On the PC, save it as syncdeck-key.txt into a folder the Deck already syncs; it arrives on its own. Press "Import key from syncdeck-key.txt" and it is read and deleted. A USB stick or ~/Downloads works too.

The file can be just the key, or the address and key on separate lines, or JSON. Delete it on the PC afterwards, since a synced file exists on both machines.

SyncDeck 1.2.1

@infernokun infernokun released this 17 Sep 01:45

Security fixes. Recommended for anyone using the PC auto-add option.

  • The PC's Syncthing API key was being written to the plugin log in plain text. It no longer is. If you set up the PC option on an earlier version, clear ~/homebrew/logs/SyncDeck/ and consider regenerating the key in your PC's Syncthing.
  • Folders that hold credentials (~/.ssh, ~/.gnupg, and Decky's own directory, which contains this plugin's settings file) can no longer be picked as a save folder.
  • Hardened the systemd unit the plugin writes for Syncthing autostart against unusual directory names.
  • A corrupt appinfo.vdf no longer empties the game list.

The README now has a Security section describing how API keys are handled, what the plugin will not touch, and the fact that the connection to your PC's Syncthing does not verify TLS because its certificate is self-signed.

SyncDeck 1.2.0

@infernokun infernokun released this 16 Sep 23:35

PC folders now land where the game keeps its saves.

With the PC Syncthing option set up (address + API key in the panel), picking a game on the Deck creates the folder on the PC:

  • at the same place in your Windows profile for Proton prefix saves (for example ~\Documents\Eidos\Tomb Raider - Underworld); if the folder already exists there, the two sides merge
  • inside the game's install folder on the PC for games that save there, found by looking through the PC's Steam libraries
  • under ~\SyncDeck<Game> for Linux-native games that have no Windows equivalent

A toast on the Deck shows where the folder landed. Nothing has to be accepted on the PC.

SyncDeck 1.1.0

@infernokun infernokun released this 16 Sep 23:30

Folders can now be created on the PC automatically.

  • New PC Syncthing option in the panel: enter your PC's Syncthing address and API key once. After that, syncing a game creates the folder on the PC at the matching Windows path (for example ~\Documents\Eidos\Tomb Raider - Underworld), so there is nothing to accept and no folder to find.
  • Without that set up, the panel and the folder picker show the Windows path next to a folder that is waiting to be accepted.
  • Settings file is now owner-readable only.

Setup on the PC: Syncthing > Actions > Settings > GUI, set the listen address to 0.0.0.0:8384, copy the API key. See the README.

First release.

Install: download SyncDeck.zip, copy it to the Deck, then in Decky go to Settings > Developer > Install Plugin from ZIP. See the README for the first-run steps.

What it does

  • Lists installed Steam games across all libraries, including SD cards
  • Detects each game's save folder in the Proton prefix, XDG dirs or the install dir
  • Creates and shares the Syncthing folder for you, with trashcan versioning
  • Shows per-game sync status, including whether the other device has accepted the folder
  • Hides games that already use Steam Cloud
  • Picks up Syncthing folders you made by hand
  • Can start Syncthing in Gaming Mode and keep it running at login
  • Tells you when a game's saves are on an SD card that is out, and lets you relocate or forget games

Tested on a Steam Deck with Decky Loader 3.2.9 and Syncthing 2.1.3 (SyncThingy Flatpak).
