Beta 8 adds player armor and optional deadmau5 ears and upside-down players. It also improves transparent world rendering, streaming, and asset loading. This release includes the changes through alpha.149 since beta.7.

  • Armor: await skin.setArmor(set) dresses a player; Armor.getEntity(set) creates standalone armor. Equipment assets from Minecraft 1.21.4 and later support leather dyes, trims, and enchantment glint. Use equipment IDs such as minecraft:diamond, rather than item IDs such as minecraft:diamond_helmet. #348
  • Skins and animation: opt-in ears and upsideDown skin options also work in scene documents. Scene documents and the editor support weighted entity animation clips. Missing entity datasets fall back to the nearest published version while textures retain the requested version. #349, #340, #341
  • Worlds: transparent section quads sort back to front within each atlas page. The streamer groups ready columns for placement, and structures load distinct block models and atlases concurrently. #338, #339, #344
  • Workers and caches: browser callers can supply a section-worker URL or factory; failures warn and fall back to synchronous meshing. Node cache writes complete promptly, serialize writes to the same key, and return the stored value. Missing texture metadata is cached, and placed player heads use the default skin. #345, #346, #347

If your code walks skin.children directly, the body-part groups now sit beneath one model root. getGroupByName and getMeshByName retain their behavior. Direct users of the low-level texture-metadata and entity-texture caches must handle false for a cached missing asset; the normal lookup methods still return undefined.
