MATERIAL 0.8.5 for macOS (Apple Silicon). Free and open source, MIT. First release that updates itself.

Install

  1. Download MATERIAL-0.8.5-arm64.zip below and unzip it.
  2. Move MATERIAL.app to Applications.
  3. First launch: the app is not signed with an Apple Developer ID, so macOS will refuse to open it. Right-click MATERIAL.app → Open → Open. Or, in Terminal: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/MATERIAL.app
  4. Install FFmpeg, which MATERIAL uses to read and export video: brew install ffmpeg

Needs macOS on Apple Silicon (M1 or later). Everything runs locally: no account, no cloud, no telemetry. The only thing it does by itself is ask GitHub, at most once a day, whether a newer version exists. MATERIAL → Check for Updates Automatically turns that off.

What's new

  • MATERIAL tells you when a newer version exists and can download, verify and install it for you. See UPDATES.
