MATERIAL 0.8.6
MATERIAL 0.8.6. Now for Windows too. Free and open source, MIT.
macOS (Apple Silicon)
- Download
MATERIAL-0.8.6-arm64.zipand unzip it. MoveMATERIAL.appto Applications. - First launch: the app is not signed with an Apple Developer ID, so macOS refuses to open it. Right-click
MATERIAL.app→ Open → Open. Or:xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/MATERIAL.app - Install FFmpeg:
brew install ffmpeg
It updates itself from 0.8.5 on (MATERIAL → Check for Updates…).
Windows (64-bit)
The installer and the zip are attached within a few minutes of this release.
- Download
MATERIAL-0.8.6-win-x64-setup.exe(installer) orMATERIAL-0.8.6-win-x64.zip(portable). - Windows SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC" because the app is not code-signed: More info → Run anyway.
- Install FFmpeg:
winget install Gyan.FFmpeg(orchoco install ffmpeg, scoop install ffmpeg).
On Windows, Help → Check for Updates… tells you when there is a newer release and opens its page. The Windows build is new: the test suite, the installer and a start of the app run on a real Windows machine in CI, but it has had little hand use. Please report what you find.
Everything runs locally: no account, no cloud, no telemetry. The only thing the app does by itself is ask GitHub, at most once a day, whether a newer version exists (you can turn that off).
