Downloads

  • A download resumes only when its partial file is proven to belong to the same file, FTP included; otherwise it restarts instead of mixing two versions. A partial whose resume record another program holds for a moment is kept and retried.
  • Server errors (HTTP 5xx except 501, CDN errors 520–524 included) are retried and keep what was downloaded, for video downloads too.
  • A supplied SHA-256 that does not match deletes the partial file, so a retry downloads it again.
  • The speed limit is shared among the connections that are downloading.
  • Site logins match a host in any letter case, international spelling or with a trailing dot; a host has one login.

Video and audio

  • MP4 playlists choose a format for every entry, also with a chosen audio language and when the site does not report every codec or height.
  • A live recording keeps its speed limit instead of restarting.
  • AVIF thumbnails show in the picker.
  • A site's media description cannot make the downloader read local files or network shares.

Queues and completion actions

  • Shutting down and running a program start when the last job completes or is removed. Only one countdown runs at a time, and cancelling it also cancels the actions waiting behind it.
  • Jobs added in the same second keep their order.
  • Pause all and Start now leave jobs awaiting a new source address waiting.
  • Synchronization downloads a deleted file again and never replaces a file with an empty response.

Interface

  • & in file names and messages shows as text.
  • Enter always opens the selected file.
  • The tray icon returns after Windows Explorer restarts.
  • The Settings dialog keeps changes made elsewhere while it is open.
  • Menu shortcuts are unique in both languages.

Browser extension

  • Without the app, the extension adds no right-click entries.
  • A video played through a blob: player is handed over by its frame or page address; several players at one address are chosen from Choose source.

Security and privacy

  • The app's browser connection talks only to a process of the same Windows user.
  • With Log site names off, site names are hidden in error messages too; the browser connection writes its refusals to the app's logs.
  • A downloaded update whose checksum does not match is reported once, with its quarantine folder.
  • A relaunch while the previous copy is still closing starts as soon as it has exited.
  • The silent update works for Windows user names with typographic quotes, such as Ali’nin.
