November 2026 major update

A very large refresh...

  • Dependency Management: To simplify script maintenance and alignment , all scripts now dynamically download a list of current dependencies from a common repo source file.

  • Installer script: A new structure to support shifted OpenVAS changes including Rust, and Python native libraries. Added isolated Python environments, expanded component version pinning and much more detailed build logs. Fixed a GSAD HTTPS redirect bug in source.

  • Upgrade script: Reworked upgrades to preserve existing accounts, configuration, certificates, feeds and services. Added database, configuration and application backups; PostgreSQL major-version protection; conservative Python dependency updates; database migration and service checks.

  • Certificates: Installer and renewal scripts now generate ECDSA P-256 certificates. Updated Windows instructions to import public cert files and corrected Linux Chrome/Chromium certificate database and trust settings.

  • Windows credentialed scanning PowerShell setup script: Added support for configurable scanner IPs, networks and address ranges, selectable firewall profiles, SMB/RPC/WMI rules, optional local administrator access and expanded help.

  • Microsoft 365 email: Added IP connector relay alongside clearly labelled legacy SMTP AUTH. Improved TLS verification, credential protection, configuration backups, repeat runs, sender rewriting and delivery diagnostics.

  • Upgrade compatibility: The upgrade script expects the November 2026 update's installer layout, including its new isolated Python environments. Don't use the latest upgrade script with archived/older versions of this project, use the migration script described next.

  • Migration from older builds: A migration script is included to upgrade existing installations created by this repository before the November 2026 update. The script preserves existing configurations and data while transitioning installations to the restructured build environment, which updates to the lastest Rust, Python and native library components.

  • Presentation and progress: Standardised all Bash script colours and section headings. Added installer/upgrade spinners, elapsed times, clearer failure reporting and sudo refresh to prevent sudo timeouts during long builds.
