@JackRushante JackRushante released this 29 Oct 18:27

Fix release.

  • Free progression: the spaceship's gravity trials now go past level 48. A won trial gives two levels from the game's table, which ends at 48: at the cap it read past the table and Goku never rose. With level_cap the trial now uses the extended curves, and the last trial's EXP bonus is carried past the game's limit too.

Includes everything from 0.3.1 to 0.3.12.

  • dbz-ssd-recompiled-windows.zip and dbz-ssd-recompiled-android.apk (64-bit ARM, Android 8 or later, updates 0.3.x in place keeping your saves).
  • The mods are unchanged: free-progression.ssdpack 0.4.0 and party-boosts.ssdpack are in v0.3.12; hd-pack.zip and ssj-kaioken.ssdpack in v0.3.9.

No game data is included: bring your own ROM (English v1.02, CRC-32 A8CF4F2A after the built-in fixes).

@JackRushante JackRushante released this 29 Oct 15:16

Free progression goes past level 48.

  • Free progression 0.4.0 (free-progression.ssdpack): the level cap rises to 999. Your fighters keep growing on the game's own curves past 48 (BP, max HP, max KI and the EXP a level needs), the enemies follow your party all the way, and Super Saiyan Goku's power grows with his level. The bosses that withdraw or transform at a set HP (Zarbon, Frieza's first forms, the Ginyu duel) now do it at a floor that grows with them, so a single huge hit can no longer skip the story. Max HP and KI stop at 9,999. Older versions of the pack keep the cap at 48.
  • Save editor: with the new pack on, levels go up to its cap (up to 999), with BP, HP, KI and EXP from the same curves. The Status and Save screens show levels above 99 and the full BP.
  • Party-wide boosts: Guru, Launch and Porunga's level wish no longer ask which fighter; the effect starts at once on the whole party.

Includes everything from 0.3.1 to 0.3.11.

  • dbz-ssd-recompiled-windows.zip: the Windows game, without any ROM. Unzip, run Set up my ROM.bat once with your own legally obtained ROM, then Play Classic.bat or Play Remastered.bat. See QUICKSTART.txt.
  • dbz-ssd-recompiled-android.apk (64-bit ARM, Android 8 or later): updates 0.3.x in place, keeping your saves.
  • free-progression.ssdpack and party-boosts.ssdpack (optional mods): install them with Options > Gameplay > Data packs > Install a pack..., then switch them on and apply.
  • The HD pack and the Kaioken mod are unchanged: get hd-pack.zip and ssj-kaioken.ssdpack from v0.3.9.

No game data is included: bring your own ROM (English v1.02, CRC-32 A8CF4F2A after the built-in fixes).

@JackRushante JackRushante released this 29 Oct 13:42

Feature and speed release.

  • Save editor (Remastered): on the title screen, Select opens "Edit saves". Change your party's levels and BP, and your bag (counts, add objects with their pictures, remove stacks). A level change sets BP, max HP, max KI and EXP from the game's own tables; a BP you add on top is kept on every later level-up. Story objects ask first; an edited slot carries the CHEATS badge.

  • Party-wide boosts (new mod, party-boosts.ssdpack, not canon): in battle, Guru (BP +50%), Porunga's level wish and Launch's favourite mark act on the whole party at once. Launch's rare alternative effect stays as it is.

  • Free progression 0.3.0 (free-progression.ssdpack): two strengths instead of one. Random encounters are made for 3 levels below your party, story fights and bosses for 3 levels above. Older versions of the pack keep working as before.

  • No more field hitches while walking or flying (#15, thanks @lming888 for #16): the HD map tiles are read ahead on their own thread.

  • Faster Remastered:

    • at normal speed the game and the HD picture now run side by side, and the game's own picture, which was drawn and thrown away, is no longer drawn: on our PC a battle went from about 83 to 133 frames a second, with far fewer late frames;
    • the HD picture is drawn faster, with the same pixels.

    New option: Options > Video > Latency, Smooth (the default) or Low (one frame less delay, the old way).

Includes everything from 0.3.1 to 0.3.10.

  • party-boosts.ssdpack and free-progression.ssdpack (optional mods): install them with Options > Gameplay > Data packs > Install a pack..., then switch them on and apply.
  • The HD pack and the other mods are unchanged: get hd-pack.zip and ssj-kaioken.ssdpack from v0.3.9.

No game data is included: bring your own ROM (English v1.02, CRC-32 A8CF4F2A after the built-in fixes).

@JackRushante JackRushante released this 28 Oct 22:10

Fix release.

  • No freeze when you use an object from the HD Items screen. With two or more stacks in the bag, using an object froze the game for about two seconds: the HD screen pressed the original's keys faster than the original reads them, and each lost key was retried late. A use now takes about a second's tenth. After Use, the original's own screens still ask who the object is for, as before.

Includes everything from 0.3.1 to 0.3.9.

  • The HD pack and the mods are unchanged: download hd-pack.zip, ssj-kaioken.ssdpack and free-progression.ssdpack from v0.3.9 if you do not have them yet.

No game data is included: bring your own ROM (English v1.02, CRC-32 A8CF4F2A after the built-in fixes).

  • Field map hitches in Remastered: walking or flying, the picture stops for a moment every few seconds while the HD map art is read (#15). A fix is on the way.

@JackRushante JackRushante released this 28 Oct 19:11

Feature release: the last field menus in HD, and a new HD pack.

  • Every field menu is now in HD. Cards, Status, Order, Text and Save were the last original screens made bigger; they are redrawn in the style of the game's own menus:
    • Cards: the hand drawn big, a cursor over it, each kanji named with its reading and meaning, the attack and defence numbers, and which party members the card favours (+25% battle power).
    • Status: the original's two pages on one screen: the party with HP and KI bars at the left, the member under the cursor at the right with every technique and its KI cost.
    • Order: grab a member, move it to its new place, apply. Slot 1 leads on the map.
    • Text: the five message speeds with a sample line that writes itself at the speed you pick.
    • Save: each slot shows what it holds (party, place, level, money); overwriting a game asks first, with the cursor on No.
  • New hd-pack.zip: Super Saiyan Goku's new art (hair standing up) is now in the HD pack itself, no mod needed; Yamcha's portrait was a battle-worn Goku and is now Yamcha, Vegeta's showed only his forehead, and the Saibaman picture has its bright green back. Download it again; the game installs it on the next Remastered launch.

Includes everything from 0.3.1 to 0.3.8.

  • dbz-ssd-recompiled-windows.zip (about 11 MB): the Windows game, without any ROM. Unzip, run Set up my ROM.bat once with your own legally obtained ROM, then Play Classic.bat or Play Remastered.bat. See QUICKSTART.txt.
  • hd-pack.zip (about 460 MB, for Remastered): the HD art. Put it next to ssd-recompiled.exe without unpacking it (on Android, pick it on the first launch or from Options). It needs this version of the game; this version also still works with the old pack from v0.3.0.
  • dbz-ssd-recompiled-android.apk (64-bit ARM, Android 8 or later): updates 0.3.x in place, keeping your saves.
  • ssj-kaioken.ssdpack and free-progression.ssdpack (optional mods): install them with Options > Gameplay > Data packs > Install a pack..., then switch them on and apply. ssj-goku-hd.ssdpack is only needed with the old HD pack.

No game data is included: bring your own ROM (English v1.02, CRC-32 A8CF4F2A after the built-in fixes).

@JackRushante JackRushante released this 28 Oct 11:21

Feature release.

  • Super Saiyan Goku HD (new mod, ssj-goku-hd.ssdpack): his 27 battle poses redrawn with the hair standing up, past the box of the original sprite that kept it flat and cut it at the top.
  • Super Saiyan Kaioken 1.1.0: its 27 Kaioken poses redrawn on the new Super Saiyan art. Switch both mods on.
  • Language packs (#12, thanks @lming888 for #13): any <code>.tsv (plus an optional ui-<code>.tsv) in the data folder is a language, with a #name and #font header; the first launch and Options > Accessibility > Language list every one found. The Hong Kong setting carries over. Long names are cut to their button, and a file named like zh_TW.tsv is reported in the log with the name it should have.
  • Mods can replace any battle pose with bigger art: a [[pose_variant]] now takes when = "always" (format in docs/mods/art.md). Super Saiyan Goku HD is the first pack to use it, and needs this version.

Includes everything from 0.3.1 to 0.3.7.

  • dbz-ssd-recompiled-windows.zip (about 10 MB): the Windows game, without any ROM.
  • ssj-goku-hd.ssdpack, ssj-kaioken.ssdpack and free-progression.ssdpack (optional mods): install them with Options > Gameplay > Data packs > Install a pack..., then switch them on and apply. A newer ssj-kaioken.ssdpack replaces the old one when installed.
  • The HD pack is unchanged: download hd-pack.zip from v0.3.0 if you do not have it yet. The two Goku mods are drawn over it.

@JackRushante JackRushante released this 27 Oct 11:38

Feature and fix release.

  • Turbo option (#9): Options > Controls > Turbo makes a held A (or A and B) press and let go again 15, 20 or 30 times a second, for the keyboard, a gamepad and the touch buttons. Handy for the ki training. Off by default; Remastered only.
  • Gohan card in the first Raditz battle (#8, thanks @lming888 for #11): the story's Gohan can be called from the HD Items screen again, as in the original. On PC and Android.
  • Shop Sell list (#10): a tag beside the price box shows the units of the stack under the cursor (×03), as the Item screen does. Selling is fixed too: a sale took a unit of another object, and a stack's row vanished at the first sale. Now each sale takes one unit of the stack chosen and the row stays until the last one is sold.

Includes everything from 0.3.1 to 0.3.6.

  • dbz-ssd-recompiled-windows.zip (about 10 MB): the Windows game, without any ROM.
  • ssj-kaioken.ssdpack and free-progression.ssdpack (optional, unchanged): install them with Options > Gameplay > Data packs > Install a pack..., then switch them on and apply.
  • The HD pack is unchanged: download hd-pack.zip from v0.3.0 if you do not have it yet.

@JackRushante JackRushante released this 22 Oct 14:33

Fix release:

  • Porunga: a Porunga from the item spawner had no wish points, so the wishes never ended; using Porunga could take another object away; and (Remastered) the cursor and the marks of the wishes used are now on the right lines (the game drew them one line low).
  • Save states keep the HD bag and the cheats: loading a state in a battle no longer shows the game's old Item list or resets the cheats.

Includes 0.3.5 (the object used is the object chosen) and 0.3.1 to 0.3.4.

  • dbz-ssd-recompiled-windows.zip (about 10 MB): the Windows game, without any ROM.

  • Free progression is under test. The balance of the scaled enemies has not been played end to end: save often, and switch it off in Data packs if a fight goes wrong.
  • Android performance can be improved a lot (to put it mildly): x1 is steady on a recent phone, x4 reaches about 220 frames a second, long sessions warm the phone.
  • Some menus are still the original's screens (Cards, Status, Order, Text, Save), made bigger; rewriting them in HD is on the roadmap.

@JackRushante JackRushante released this 22 Oct 13:45

Fix release: the object used from the HD Item screen is the object chosen. Before, the game used the first object of the bag whatever you chose (the game reads the object under its own cursor when the cursor moves; the HD now moves it). Includes 0.3.4 (after Use, the fighter, the card, the wishes and the messages are yours) and 0.3.1 to 0.3.3.

  • dbz-ssd-recompiled-windows.zip (about 10 MB): the Windows game, without any ROM. Unzip, run Set up my ROM.bat once with your own legally obtained ROM, then Play Classic.bat or Play Remastered.bat. See QUICKSTART.txt.

@JackRushante JackRushante released this 22 Oct 13:01

Fix release: using an object from the HD Item screen works on the map and in battle. The HD presses only the game's own Use; whatever the object asks next is yours, on the game's screens: the fighter it is for (Turtle, ChiChi, Oolong, the healers), a card to change, Porunga's wishes, the lines of a message (Launch, Korin, Guru, Shenron). Before, the HD answered by itself and covered the game's screens: in a battle the use stood still for 10 to 25 seconds or never ended. Includes 0.3.1 to 0.3.3.
