Fixed

• Office documents going blank after editing: the arrow at the top left of the document toolbar was the engine's own "close document" button, which emptied the page. It is gone in reading mode (in edit mode that spot is still the tick). If the page ever closes itself anyway, you get a Reload button instead of a blank page.
• App icon in dark mode: the fox's cream fur no longer turns dark. All icons now come from the high-resolution artwork.

Install Libreon-0.9.0-beta.5-arm64-v8a.apk over the previous beta; your tabs are kept.

• A small "buy me a coffee" banner at the very bottom of Settings: the only place Libreon will ever ask for support. No pop-ups, no reminders.
• Report a problem or suggest a feature in Settings opens Libreon's GitHub Issues page.
• Both links open in your browser only when you tap them; Libreon itself still has no internet permission.

Fixes the layout of Office message dialogs, such as the "Font Disallows Editing" question some PowerPoint files show: the text now wraps in clean paragraphs with each listed font on its own line, instead of running off the left edge with stray lines between rows.

Fixes from the first test on a Galaxy S24 Ultra (Android 17).

Fixed

• PDFs open again on Samsung phones (and other devices that tag memory addresses). They failed with "PDFium error 2132311536".
• Selecting text in Office documents: long-press a word while reading, or double-tap it in either mode, then drag the handles. A one-time tip explains this.
• Office page going blank after editing and coming back: the page is now kept attached when you return to the app, and if it ever can't be shown you get a message with a Reload button instead of a blank screen.
• Back from a document goes to Home instead of closing the app.
• The PowerPoint slideshow button no longer looks disabled in dark mode.

New

• Settings: light, dark, or follow the system.
• Light pages: read one document light while the app is dark (document menu).
• Discard changes, Close all tabs and Clear Home, each with a confirmation.
• A new Home screen with the Libreon logo, and a button to hide the tab bar in landscape.

• "Invalid value" when filling cells in Excel forms.
• The badly formatted "Font Disallows Editing" message in some PowerPoint files.

Libreon 0.9.0 beta 1

The first beta of Libreon: a private, fully offline office suite for Android. Work freely.

Which file?

• Libreon-0.9.0-beta.1-arm64-v8a.apk for almost every phone and tablet
• Libreon-0.9.0-beta.1-x86_64.apk for emulators and some Chromebooks

Requires Android 12 or newer. Checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt.

What's in it

• Word, Excel and PowerPoint (.docx .xlsx .pptx, the older formats, OpenDocument and .rtf): open, edit and save. Apple Pages, Numbers and Keynote open read-only.
• PDF: view, search, fill forms, sign, highlight and copy text.
• Text, Markdown, CSV and JSON editing, including very large files.
• Tabs that keep your unsaved work, find in any document, word counts, and file search.
• No internet permission, no ads, no accounts, no trackers, no AI.

Known gaps

• Printing and exporting Office documents to other formats aren't available yet.
• Copy and paste inside Office documents stays within that document.
• Tested on the Android emulator and BlueStacks; testing on real phones is ongoing.
