RastaVec v0.3.0-beta.5

Pre-release

@github-actions github-actions released this 07 Nov 15:55

RastaVec v0.3.0-beta.5 is a local-first raster-to-SVG app powered by VTracer 1.0.0-alpha.4.

Highlights

  • Use VTracer 1 in the browser and desktop app through WebAssembly; the CLI uses the native Rust package.
  • Review spatial and proximity-based SVG groups, edit their hierarchy and names, assign optional roles and pivots, protect groups, merge or split them, and export group metadata in a ZIP.
  • Create animated SVGs with the animation editor, including pivot-based rotation, vertical motion, role-driven walk cycles, and pose sequences.
  • Preserve SVG paint order and appearance during grouping, with support for axis-aligned scale and translation transforms.

Downloads

  • Windows: RastaVec_*_x64-setup.exe (recommended) or .msi
  • macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon): RastaVec_*_universal.dmg
  • CLI: rastavec-*.tgz; install with npm install -g ./rastavec-.tgz. See cli/README.md.

Known limitation

The Windows and macOS builds are not code-signed yet. Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper may warn on first launch; see the platform security settings to open the app.

RastaVec v0.3.0-beta.4

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Nov 17:14

RastaVec 0.3.0 beta 4 extends the local raster-to-SVG workflow with editable grouping and safer batch handling.

Highlights

  • Review nearby vector contours in nested, editable groups, with search, rename, keyboard navigation and a wider group manager.
  • Evaluate grouping across pixel art, icons, sprites and larger open-source illustrations; sample inputs and measured comparisons are included in the repository.
  • Improve batch cancellation, large-image limits, output collision checks and local session recovery.
  • Extend the CLI with matching grouping and pixel-grid support, plus regression coverage for output safety and image limits.

Known limitations

  • Group labels are geometry-based; the app does not infer semantic object names.
  • Desktop builds are unsigned. Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper may warn on first launch.
  • The Animate screen is not available yet.

RastaVec v0.2.0-beta.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 05 Nov 21:57

RastaVec v0.2.0-beta.1: raster to SVG, deterministic and 100% local.

What's new in 0.2.0

  • Edit screen: palette filters. Restyle a whole drawing at once instead of colour by colour: fewer colours, less detail (small low-contrast shapes fade into the shape underneath, eyes and outlines stay), hue / saturation / lightness / contrast, swap one colour family for another, or map onto a theme palette (brand, duotone, mono, pastel, neon).
  • 11 one-click presets, live stats (colours, shapes, size, difference from the source), apply to the whole batch.
  • The .zip and SVG downloads include the filtered result; config.json records the filters per image. The original trace is never modified.

Desktop app

  • Windows: RastaVec_*_x64-setup.exe (recommended) or .msi
  • macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon): RastaVec_*_universal.dmg

Command line

rastavec-*.tgz: npm install -g ./rastavec-<version>.tgz, then rastavec trace logo.png.
See cli/README.md.

Known limitations

  • Builds are not code-signed yet: Windows SmartScreen ("More info" > "Run anyway")
    and macOS Gatekeeper (System Settings > Privacy & Security > "Open Anyway") warn on first launch.
  • The Animate screen is not available yet.
