Overview

Baulr v0.2.0 is a major milestone release introducing public share links, progressive multi-cloud vault browsing, local Wi-Fi mobile uploads, configurable bandwidth rate limiting, and a dedicated settings interface.

What's New

Public Cloud Share Links

Generate shareable web links directly from the vault files table:

  • Parallel Remote Resolution: Inspects active cloud accounts simultaneously using asynchronous worker tasks, returning the link from whichever provider resolves first.
  • In-Memory Caching: Previously resolved links are cached in memory for instant retrieval and automatically invalidated when files are modified or deleted.
  • Direct Actions: Instant clipboard copying and external browser preview options.

Progressive Vault Loading & Sync Indicators

Eliminate all-or-nothing loading delays and perceived data loss:

  • Fastest Account First: Items appear as soon as their respective provider returns data, avoiding blocking delays from slower accounts.
  • Account Fault Isolation: Connection errors on one provider do not block files loaded from other accounts, providing localized retry triggers.
  • Intent-Driven Hover Prefetching: Moving your cursor over the Vault Files tab triggers background synchronization ahead of the click.
  • Reassuring Sync States: Contextual checking notices and status badges prevent premature empty states while accounts synchronize.

LAN Wi-Fi Mobile Direct Upload

Transfer photos and documents directly from mobile devices over your local network:

  • QR Code Pairing: Scanning the desktop QR code opens a secure web interface hosted on your local Wi-Fi network.
  • Zero Mobile App Installation: Upload media directly from mobile photo libraries or document pickers without downloading an app or entering passwords.
  • Direct Staging: Transferred files land straight into the desktop offloader queue for capacity checking and safe offloading.

Upload Bandwidth Rate Limiter

Manage network bandwidth during cloud offloads:

  • Upload-Targeted Caps: Limits background upload traffic (Unlimited, 25, 10, 5, 2 MB/s, or custom limits) without slowing down vault downloads.
  • Dynamic Application: Applies rate changes immediately without interrupting active transfers or restarting the engine.
  • Persistent Preferences: Bandwidth limits are automatically remembered across application restarts.

Dedicated Settings View

Centralized preferences for theme, network, and system status:

  • Decluttered Header: Moved speed limits and themes out of the top navigation bar into a dedicated settings screen.
  • Obsidian Theme Selection: Preview and toggle between Obsidian, Titanium, and Bronze color schemes.

Improvements & Fixes

  • Multi-Item Drag & Drop: Enhanced dropzone to accept multiple files and directories in a single drop with automatic name disambiguation.
  • Architecture Simplification: Removed 133 lines of redundant wrapper logic, stream deduplication, and single-caller components through targeted refactoring.
  • Quota Synchronization Resilience: Stabilized multi-cloud quota queries with 45s HTTP client timeouts and robust error caching.

Note

On macOS, if an "unidentified developer" prompt appears upon opening, right-click (or Control-click) Baulr.app in Finder and select Open to approve the binary.
