wake-dispatch v0.2.0

This release significantly expands wake-dispatch with network scanning, mDNS hostname resolution, an improved Steam-native UI, in-app update checks, and smarter home-network automation — plus several reliability fixes.

Features

Network Scan & Device Discovery

The plugin can now scan your local network and discover devices automatically. Found devices can be added directly from scan results, saving you from manually entering MAC addresses. mDNS names are resolved where available, so devices appear with friendly hostnames rather than bare IP addresses. You can also look up devices by IP address or hostname.

In-App Update Check

A new update checker notifies you when a new version of wake-dispatch is available, so you no longer need to check manually.

Improved Home-Network Automation

The home-network gate now matches against your router's MAC address for more reliable network detection. Automation also correctly resumes cooldown timers after a wake attempt, preventing repeated spurious packets.

Redesigned Panel UI

The Quick Access panel has been refreshed with a Steam-native layout. The device editor is more compact, and the scan and update workflows are integrated directly into the panel.

Bug Fixes

Clean Unload & Backend Hardening

Plugin teardown is now handled cleanly on unload, preventing stale state or lingering processes between sessions. Several backend edge cases were also hardened against unexpected input.

Improvements

  • Panel layout and device editor now feel at home alongside other Steam Deck Quick Access menus.
  • Network scan results feed directly into the add-device workflow, reducing friction when setting up new entries.
