Highlights

  • Download for offline listening: right-click tracks from a Subsonic, Jellyfin, Plex, or DAAP server and choose Download.
  • Copy to Device: copy tracks or a playlist to a USB drive, SD card, or music player.
  • Drag and drop: drag tracks into a file manager to copy them, or onto a playlist in the sidebar.
  • Graphic equalizer: ten bands from 32 Hz to 16 kHz, ±12 dB, with Winamp's classic presets. Open it from the new EQ button in the header bar.
  • Browsing: browse the library by folder, and show album artwork in the Album pane.
  • System media controls: MPRIS, the Windows media overlay, and macOS Now Playing now show the length, position, and cover art, and let you seek.
  • Jellyfin 12 sign-in, plus many fixes for Subsonic, Plex, DAAP, Chromecast, MPD, playlists, and the local library.
  • Safer upgrades: the library database is backed up before it is upgraded.

Flatpak users: move your library before first launch

Tributary's application ID changed from io.github.tributary.Tributary to io.github.jm2.tributary. Flatpak keeps each app's library and settings in ~/.var/app/<app ID>, so the new Flatpak starts empty unless you move the old folder. Quit Tributary, then, before starting 0.7.0 for the first time, run:

mv ~/.var/app/io.github.tributary.Tributary ~/.var/app/io.github.jm2.tributary
flatpak uninstall io.github.tributary.Tributary

If you already started 0.7.0, quit it and delete ~/.var/app/io.github.jm2.tributary first. Access to library folders outside your Music folder belongs to the old app ID, so re-grant it with Reauthorize… under Preferences → Library Location.

The .deb, .rpm, Arch, Windows, and macOS builds keep their library and settings. On Linux, a launcher pinned to a dock or a default-app choice for audio files may need setting again, and macOS may ask again for permissions such as access to the Music folder.

Verifying downloads

SHA256SUMS.txt lists every file's checksum. Each file also has a build-provenance attestation you can check with:

gh attestation verify <downloaded-file> --repo jm2/tributary
