Fixed

  • Setup no longer stops with Only AES-CTR ExeFS is supported on dumps whose game files are stored decrypted (plaintext NCAs). It happened on Windows and Linux alike. The game code is read as stored and still checked against its hashes. If a dump uses another encryption type, the error now names it (#7).

Nothing else changed since 0.1.0. If 0.1.0 installed fine for you, there's no need to reinstall.

Install

  1. Download XC2-Setup-0.1.1-windows.zip (Windows) or XC2-Setup-0.1.1-linux.AppImage (Linux).
  2. Unpack it and run XC2-Setup.exe (on Linux, make the AppImage executable and run it). Point it at your own base game, the 3.0.1 update, the optional DLC, and your prod.keys.
  3. The setup extracts and compiles the game on your PC, once.

No game files are included. You need your own copy, dumped from your own Switch.

Known issues

  • At 60 fps or above, the title screen and some menus animate faster than they should.
  • In-engine cutscenes run at the frame limit; only pre-rendered movies are held at 30.
  • Transform feedback is not replayed yet.

Bug reports are welcome. Include logs\xc2.log (or the setup's log it names) and your GPU.

First release of XC2 Recomp: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 3.0.1, statically recompiled into a native Windows x86-64 exe with a Vulkan renderer. It is not an emulator.

What's in it

  • Native Windows build; a Linux AppImage of the setup is also included.
  • 60 fps by default. Game speed follows real time, so play isn't sped up. Higher limits (120/144) are experimental. A limit of 30 gives the original behaviour.
  • Shader variants are prepared during setup to cut first-time hitches.
  • Add-on content (Torna and the rest) is mounted if you provide it.
  • Settings menu (F1), borderless fullscreen (F11).

Install

  1. Download XC2-Setup-0.1.0-windows.zip (Windows) or XC2-Setup-0.1.0-linux.AppImage (Linux).
  2. Unpack it and run XC2-Setup.exe.
