InstantLaTeX v2.0.0
Breaking change
Same-origin embedded editors now read and update their own iframe URL fragment. If an embed previously used the host page's fragment for its formula, move the encoded formula into the iframe src.
Fix
Host anchors and hash routing no longer overwrite an embedded formula or cancel pending edits. Standalone and cross-origin editors retain their existing URL behavior. See PR #65.
InstantLaTeX v1.1.3
InstantLaTeX v1.1.2
InstantLaTeX v1.1.2 stops a page error when KaTeX's auto-render script is missing.
Fixes
- The page no longer throws
renderMathInElement is not definedwhen the auto-render script fails to load. The unused auto-render bootstrap is removed (#55, #56).
Other changes
Verification
- 56 Jest tests passed.
- Browser suites passed for editor undo/redo, page bootstrap, cross-origin embedding, mobile layout, nested overflow, and wide formulas.
- GitHub Pages deployment succeeded.
InstantLaTeX v1.1.1
InstantLaTeX v1.1.1 fixes Backspace handling at the end of the editor input.
Fixes
- Backspace at the end of input now deletes non-bracket characters natively instead of being swallowed by bracket pairing, including surrogate pairs (#49).
Verification
- 45 Jest tests passed.
- Browser suites passed for editor undo/redo, cross-origin embedding, mobile layout, nested overflow, and wide formulas.
- GitHub Pages deployment succeeded.
InstantLaTeX v1.1.0
InstantLaTeX v1.1.0 adds improvements to bracket pairing and fixes formula rendering and layout issues.
Improvements
- Refine TeX bracket auto-pairing in a dedicated controller while preserving browser undo and redo behavior.
- Keep wide formulas scrollable from their starting point on desktop and mobile.
- Preserve usable editor space on mobile when ads load and contain overflowing rendered formulas.
- Strip enclosing math delimiters from input, including the escaped-dollar edge case.
- Contain failures from deeply nested TeX so the editor remains usable and formula state can recover.
Verification
- 36 Jest tests passed.
- Browser suites passed for editor undo/redo, cross-origin embedding, mobile layout, nested overflow, and wide formulas.
- GitHub Pages deployment succeeded.
v1.0.1
InstantLaTeX v1.0.1
InstantLaTeX is a fast, responsive, web-based tool for writing and previewing LaTeX and TeX mathematics instantly in the browser.
This release includes important fixes and polish for delimiter auto-pairing, textarea undo stack preservation, keyboard shortcut handling, and cross-origin iframe embedding safety.
Fixes & Improvements
- Auto-paired Closing Delimiters: Typing a matching closing bracket or parenthesis (
),],}) when the cursor is immediately before an auto-inserted closer now steps over it instead of duplicating it (#14, #17). - Paired Delimiter Deletion: Pressing Backspace between empty auto-paired delimiters now deletes both opening and closing delimiters together (#14, #17).
- Editor Undo Stack Preservation: Replaced direct DOM value mutations during auto-pairing with undo-preserving input actions, ensuring browser undo/redo history remains intact and functional (#15, #17).
- Shortcut Chord Integrity: Keyboard shortcut chords using modifier keys (such as
Cmd+[orCtrl+[) are no longer intercepted by delimiter auto-pairing (#16, #17). - Cross-Origin Iframe Safety: Resolved an issue where typing within a cross-origin embedded iframe would trigger top-level navigation on the host page. Cross-origin embeds now safely isolate formula state to their own frame without touching the parent page (#20, #22).
- Test Infrastructure & Hygiene: Configured bounded worker pools for Jest and automatic cleanup of ephemeral browser profiles following Puppeteer end-to-end test execution (#21, #23).
