This is a huge update with Freddy bot that does not bring many new things to the table but there is a lot of improvements:

  • Restructured most of the entire project.
  • Separated a lot of files and got rid of redundant code.
  • Re-did a lot of classes with proper java style and conventions.
  • Better error catching and logging so it is better to identify what is actually wrong. Random errors should happen less because things are more stable.
  • Better "separation of concerns" in the code base.
  • Bot no longer leaves the channel after finishing the last song.
  • The bot can now move between channels without disturbing playback.
  • Self hosting instructions are now in the README.md along with artifacts in the releases page.
  • Status changes are done a lot better now. The bot should not mess with it if it is set before it joins.
  • More performant Spotify playlist loading. There is no hard limit of Spotify playlist size, the bot will load as many songs as it can until there are no more songs in the playlist or the queue is full, whichever is full first.
  • There are perhaps more changes that come with 2.0.0 that I am forgetting to mention but I was too lazy to make a list of them while doing them, and now I am too lazy to see what they actually were. You can always check the commit history.
