Black Ops VR v0.1.0-beta.4 — Free Public Release
Black Ops VR beta.4 is now free for everyone. No Patreon membership or payment is required. Donations are voluntary and help fund continued development.
This is the existing beta.4 build with the October 21 weapon-verification documentation, now publicly available. It is not a new gameplay build; existing users do not need to reinstall just because the release is now free.
Download
- BlackOpsVR-v0.1.0-beta.4-Portable.zip — complete player/launcher package.
- BlackOpsVR-v0.1.0-beta.4-Source.zip — matching native/launcher source, dependency and license snapshot; optional to play.
- SHA256SUMS.txt — checksums for the downloads and testing notes.
- WEAPON-TESTING-20261021.txt — targeted testing coverage and its limits.
Setup
You need your own compatible Steam copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), single player, a PC VR headset and a compatible 32-bit OpenXR runtime. Multiplayer is unsupported.
Close the game and old launcher. Extract the entire Portable ZIP into a new folder, run BlackOpsVR.exe, select your Steam game folder, choose your options, and select Check game and Install / Update. Start Steam and your VR software, connect your headset/controllers, then select Launch VR. Choose No if Black Ops asks to apply optimal graphics settings.
Existing users should select the same game folder to retain access to their separate VR saves. Keep the files together and do not delete your existing VR profile/runtime folders. Full controls and known issues are included.
What to expect
Campaign and Zombies VR support, motion-controller aiming, manual/automatic reload, two-handed support, VR scopes, motion/button grenades, movement and turning options, adjustable rendering resolution, VR menus, and controls for unusual campaign sections.
The campaign has been played through locally and the progression blockers encountered were addressed. This is still a beta: graphical and animation glitches, weapon-specific issues and runtime/headset compatibility problems can remain. Targeted simulator checks do not certify every weapon or headset.
The preserved source is available in this repository and in the attached Source ZIP, with GPL and third-party notices. No proprietary Call of Duty game assets or saves are included.
Thank you to everyone who tested, reported issues and supported the work. Optional support: https://www.patreon.com/J_Play
