The Treasure Pylon is a utility structure that organizes nearby containers (by default, only the basic wooden boxes) by:
- Making a list of them
- Processing each container by pulling all resources from the other containers into the currently processed one
- Continuing until all containers have been processed
What this means is that if there are 10 dandelions distributed across 20 chests, they'll all be sucked into one chest. This means that your items will be shuffled around a lot.
This is kind of "dumb" sorting in that it is not very sophisticated. But it makes more sense if you undertstand the intended workflow.
Neckros gather all manner of items and dump them into wooden boxes. Eventually wooden boxes run out of slots due to disorganization, even though they could hold much more if organized:
