Batman City VR 0.1.6

@junglejuz junglejuz released this 27 Oct 14:13

Batman: Arkham City in PC VR. What's new since 0.1.5:

  • Labels point at their targets: the info the game hangs on people (enemy info, vital signs in detective mode) now sits on the person it belongs to, in both eyes.
  • Detective mode fuses properly: the stripes that move along the outlines were drawn differently in each eye and crawled across the view; they are now shared by both eyes, like the vignette and honeycomb already were.
  • Right-stick camera zoom fixed: clicking the right stick (the game's camera zoom) could make Batman disappear, leaving only his shadow, and clicking again put the camera inside his head. With "grapple points where you look" on, the mod held the camera where the game was trying to move it. The camera now follows the game's zoom.

Download size: about 290 MB, mostly the AI-upscaled loading-screen pictures (about 225 MB) and NVIDIA's DLSS library (about 60 MB).

Install: start the game once from Steam (to the main menu), unpack BatmanCityVR-ArkhamCity.zip, run Install-BatmanCityVR.bat, then start the game with the Batman City VR shortcut (or Batman City VR (SteamVR) for SteamVR). Updating from 0.1.x: run the new installer over it; your VR settings are kept. Details and troubleshooting: README.

Tested with a Quest 3 through Virtual Desktop, RTX 4070 Ti.

Credits: built on bioshock-vr (MIT), MinHook, Dear ImGui and the OpenXR SDK. The per-eye DLSS method follows the Luma Framework (Filippo Tarpini). DLSS is © NVIDIA Corporation. Batman: Arkham City © Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.; Batman and related characters are trademarks of DC Comics. Unofficial fan mod; needs your own copy of the game.

Batman: Arkham City in PC VR. What's new since 0.1.2:

  • Map and upgrade screens: no more flickering copy of the screen around the edges of your view; the game goes straight back to normal 3D when you close them.
  • Upgrade screen: opens noticeably faster.
  • Unpausing: goes straight back to the game - no black screen or bat transition, and the sound no longer cuts out afterwards. The bats still play when you quit to the main menu.
  • HUD: keeps the size you set after unpausing (it no longer starts small and grows back).
  • Detective mode: its screen effect (honeycomb, scanlines, grain and vignette) is now one overlay that both eyes see the same way, instead of a separate circle in each eye.
  • VR settings: the settings file is now always written with every setting in it.

Download size: about 290 MB, mostly the AI-upscaled loading-screen pictures (about 225 MB) and NVIDIA's DLSS library (about 60 MB).

@junglejuz junglejuz released this 10 Oct 18:06

Batman: Arkham City in PC VR. What's new since 0.1:

  • Quitting to the main menu: the screen stays black while the game loads, then the bats sweep in with their sound and reveal Batman on the gargoyle.
  • Loading screens: no more opening-logo pictures in front of them, the screen hangs a little further away (2.5 m), and the upscaled pictures can be switched on and off in the VR menu (Menus and screens).
  • HUD: the glow under "LEVEL UP" now stays with its text.
  • First-person view: the camera now follows Batman's head, so it no longer passes through it when gliding; first person turns itself off on the main menu, in menus and on loading screens.
  • VR menu: a new Stereo rendering section to choose Native or AFW, and a more solid background.
  • Installer: also installs the tested VR resolution and the bat transition used by the menus; the uninstaller now also deletes the mod's own VR settings and logs.

Download size: about 290 MB, mostly the AI-upscaled loading-screen pictures (about 225 MB) and NVIDIA's DLSS library (about 60 MB).

Install: start the game once from Steam (to the main menu), unpack BatmanCityVR-ArkhamCity.zip, run Install-BatmanCityVR.bat, then start the game with the Batman City VR shortcut. Updating from 0.1: run the new installer over it; your VR settings are kept. Details and troubleshooting: README.

  • Native stereo: the game draws both eyes every frame, with full head tracking.
